the fear of madrid is irrational. you would think they are unbeatable and piling league + CL doubles over us season after season. 16/17 is when I felt madrid was truly strong. 15/16 and 17/18 they were good but beatable, and now they have lost zidane and are on the verge of losing CR7.

people underestimate just how much cohesion is needed on top of quality to win CLs/major titles. they can add neymar and hazard but you can take it to the bank that neither of them has the consistency to match what CR7 brought for them. even at 33. marcelo, modric, benz, bale, ramos aren't getting any younger either. kroos and carvajal are too hot or cold. casemiro is still a fouling donkey.

Interesting times for me. If they indeed replace Ronaldo for a player of Mbappe's calibre I am curious as to see as a Barca fan how we will react.

There is not much we can do to react, really. Even if we had another 200m to burn, there isn’t anyone out there for us to buy.

the amateur midfield and defense from argentina made mbappe look much better than he is. he's a good player (certainly not top 5-10 in the world right now) but needs space. we saw a much less effective version of mbappe only months ago v RM when the experienced backline of madrid didn't let him break free on sprints.

I am not even talking about new transfers. Maybe just Arthur. I just want to see how our team will perform and fare up to Real this season.

Juve would be making a huge mistake if they sell Dybala for Ronaldo. They need to have both if they want to win CL. I would hate to see Dybala at Real. I hope it is not true.

What is in it for Ronaldo though? If he is leaving Real Madrid because they refused to up his salary to match Messi's, is Juventus going to do that, or at least offer him as much as he gets at Real Madrid? If not, what is the point? Plus, Juventus, despite being one of the elite clubs, is a big step down compared to Real Madrid.

That's why I am still find this rumor hard to believe.

Tax exile. And serie a is where careers go to die with some respect (China and US are just a money grab).

He is probably thinking, if Higuain can be statpadding there, imagine me.

Morten, Wolfe, how you think his legacy will be compared to all time greats such as Casillas and Raul? I mean, in terms of production he's obviously second to none, but how much will his contractual tantrums and frequent dubious behavior taint it?

Depends which type of madridista you ask. Most who are worth listening to and think rationally won't put him on the same shelf with likeable iconic legends. That doesn't mean we don't respect how much the guy has killed himself for the club. Arguably nobody gave the club more in an 8-year spell. Nobody is even close to his level of obsessive professionalism.

I don't really think you can rank legends like this.

He cares about his money but I think he cares more about his image and ego than his money. He could have just stayed at Real Madrid till his contract expires.

Playing in Serie A is a bad statement for his pride and ego.

Free league titles, probably an easier league to keep the goals coming, and Juventus have competed in the CL quite well in recent years, they could go the next step with him up there in tough CL-matches instead of the Higuain.

But not for his stats. With going to Juve he'll be able to hide his decline much more and maybe play until 40.

Who really cares about Serie A titles, honestly? Less money, more goals and equal or less chance of getting another CL trophy (nobody is more likely to win the CL than Real Madrid)? Sounds like a bad deal.

Probably comes down to the tax issue, i guess, where the club didnt back him, unlike Barca who always back their players in these situations.
Well, league titles are league titles, and the chance of winning CLs with Juve isnt that much less than with RM, i think, could extend his career in an arguably easier league as well.

That's almost the point. CR transfer helps the league prestige by proxy quite a bit. It shows the league is not a periphery of sorts for stars, most of whom prefer to go to England, Spain or PSG these days. That's why people would start caring about Serie A title again. Because if Ancelotti's Napoli, or Inter, or Milan, or Roma with Monchi's transfers going on do beat Juve with CR in the team, it'll be talked about. Good deal for Juve, even if it means losing an asset or two.

Madrid just doing what they had to for a year already.
