Absent because he was hiding and not taking any responsibility when on the ball. Just backpass after backpass as usual. No cojones whatsoever to try to raise the team when they are struggling, always leaving the responsibility to others and camping on the offside line/in the box.

Not even a shadow of his former self these days. Even the Atleti fans booing him and the build up over that freekick felt pointless as we all knew where the ball was going; not in the goal. Games just pass him by and whilst Messi hasn't been great.. hes still involved
