Manchester United manager Eric ten Hag on the situation with Cristiano Ronaldo:

“We’ll miss him tomorrow, but there has to be consequences. It is important for the attitude and mentality of the group.

“I am the manager, I have to set standards and values. We are in a team.”

What Cr7 did was really bad, he literally refused to be subbed in and walked out to wherever, outright disrespect to the boss and club (it seems he doesn't know he's 37 sometimes). The fact that some people are trying to make excuses for him is funny, ETH dealt with it okay though, but a firmer manager would've kept him out of the squad for a longer period (i understand that their forwards are few, plus some injured so they also had to act with wisdom).

3rd goal offside as well. 5 goals in 2 legs. 2 offside, all of them disgustingly ugly, and a fucking terrible performance from him other than that. But whatever, he runs away stealing Euros and CL's and Balon D'ors like it's nobodies business. Luckiest bastard in the history of football.

More than 5 years ago but so true. So true.
