Cristian Tello

I think Tello is one dimensional or Pep uses him like that. Either way he needs to add something different, he has pace and control but he always goes on the outside of the box. His pace puts most defenders at disadvantage but his predictable movement kills that advantage imho. Im not hating on Tello, he is very young and has a lot of time to hone his game.

Tello goes outside to the goal line when he sees he can. From what I remember, he either gets a shot off, a cross in, or wins a corner almost every time, which is a very high success rate for that move. He also holds the ball up when he doesn't have a good opening, and passes it back. That's another of his functions: simply get control of the ball way up the field until the rest of the team can get there. He does that very well.

Could he add more to his game? Certainly, but he executes his current role on the team very well.

Thank goodness he likes to operate on the left, that is exactly what this team needs, no more players who prefer the center. He is going to make mistakes, he is not yet a complete player. He needs to do this learning on the field for the first team, because no else on the team offers what he does.

Special mention for this lad against Bilbao. Stretched Bilbao's defence like a chewing gum on the left!

he did seem lost out there. he should be a sub for a good while imo, he isn't starting material. that said, he did put in a solid defensive shift and kept bilbao's defence stretched which we lacked in the milan game. plus he got us a penalty and almost scored so not too bad at all.

tello is a great passer of the ball inside the box. in a number of matches now he has spotted and picked the right pass while inside the box... granted his passes havent been converted yet but nevertheless it is good effort. for example, his pass to pique today was the right decision given the circumstances and pique should have buried it

apart from his passing, the kid is not afraid to take on defenders and shoot the ball, plus he has amazing speed.

Definitely a game to forget, but that's expected with someone so young and unacquainted with the first team. I do like that he's direct with the ball, some of the other players could benefit by doing the same.

not his best game but lets not forget he was facing the awesomeness of Andony Iraola :)

Exactly...It's not even as if the player even was given much service let alone chance to shine agaisnt Iraola...but Andony was terrific...Tough to release a player who likes to get in behind the defense with all the pressing in the middle of the pitch...Same for Alexis really...That's where Villa knows how to make those runs and Xavi can spot them...Something to work on going forward, no doubt

He only had 3 useful balls recieved in the first half, he didn't get many in the second either. He wasn't played by his teammates as the team felt like it was under pressure putting pressure on Bilbao. His teammates probably thought they could do a better thing for the team passing the ball elswhere... Not having chances to recieve the ball and do your job you can never prove yourself in any team and in no match.

In those previous games tello played, the pressure on Barca lacked compared to what it was against Bilbao. Thus he got numerous useful balls that he tried to convert into goal scoring opportunities. Pedro in his 30 minutes play was alot more absent in the game compared to tello's 60 mins. It was a tactical thing that made them both be colourless.
