Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

Abysmal sports ethics by him.
Oh well, who cares, no one gonna remember him after he retires, just like no one talks about gerd muller or raul.

No way, Messi will be hailed as the goat, which means since he is always linked with him people will rank him top 5 at least.
If anything, they will forget the dives and his antics like they do currently with his play as long as he scores.
People will look at the results: performing in two leagues, all prices won, several ballon d'or's, amazing stats, a major contribution to the team awards and a comparison to the best player who he even bested at times (see ballon d'ors and stats after Messi 2012).

Its an extremely superficial way of looking at it, but thats the way the football world works, it is visable even today let alone when he is done.
OD you remember how many of his 23 hattricks were helped by penaldo dives? probably not but the hattrick stat ( and stats in general) will be remembered.

He cares greatly about his image/legacy and is working hard at it, a shitload of fans already worships him based on shallow perceptions.
As a purist, it pisses me off.

He tripped, it wasn't really a dive, but he falls for everything so his diving label will never fade away.

When you trip you either fall or stumble, you dont take additional steps and then fall like you just got shot.
You can even see based on how he falls when it is a dive and when it isnt.
Only a blind person or Madridista./Portugese cant.

Look at how he hit the other players leg with his left foot as he was running, he was going pretty fast so maybe the impact made him lose control of his body.

Check the game video, instead of just that video clip. There was no way he was tripped. He dived intentionally, the only contact was on his back, not his foot.

He is one of a kind. What an amazing dive though.

Messi 50 goal record could be broken. Don't want that to happen, but it will mostly happen.

It certainly can happen, but he cant get injuried, and he has to keep it up. Now, Ronaldo is one of the few with the consistensy to that, and at this rate he will smash it. But i dont expect him, or anyone to have a goal ratio of almost 2 per game for a whole season, he still needs above 1 goals per game as an average for the rest of the season to do it. Will be interesting to see.

Well the gif that was posted here made it seem like he did hit the other players leg with his backheel.

BeIN sports guys showed the dive from many angles over and over again immediately after the incident and at HT and they made the conclusion that there was no contact on the foot/leg.
