Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

Statistics can be used in many ways. Here is one, everyone flamed Di Maria for losing the ball to often. But did you know how often Messi was disposessed in the group stages? ALOT. Ronaldo created more chances than Messi from January-may 2014 in the league than Messi, was he more creative? Hardly. Stats is not everything, sometimes you have to watch the actual games, and Messi was average at best.
I feel Messi was average during the wc, he was invisible against Bosnia and Iran but won those games. Good vs Nigeria and Switzerland, invidible afterwards. But your argument wont favour Ronaldo since for a few years he is shining more trough stats while his play is mediocre/bad.

i didn't say he was the standout player at the world cup. i thought that was mascherano for the most part for the completeness of his play. but he was far from piss poor and invisible, that was my only point.

I do agree , but what I didn't get is the amount of criticism he got. To me he wasnt playing to his best , but he was still one of the best. Both Messi and Ronaldo are measured differently. One has to score a tap in and a penalty to have a good game , the other has to score a hat rick , give 5 assists , run 15 km and constantly being a danger to the oppositions defense.

Scoring goals with subar performances, but gets hated instead.

At least Messi's goals against both Bosinia-Hezergovina and Iran were brilliant, all set up by himself, not just some easy tap-ins that got handed to him on a platter that we saw from Ronaldo today.

Ronaldo created more chances, based on what? Key passes? Again, if so, that is not indicative at all since you guys take more shots.

"Finally after being surrounded with $500 millions worth of players in transfer fees CR can now stand proudly in Messi's shadow and chase Messi's records. All it took was RM going in more debt and spend more money to surround CR with more WC internationals!!! All hail the king CR the way he scores from 8 yards out with no one near him and not being marked after the amazing work of his teammates is just amazing. He also today set a new world record for min spent inside the 18 yards box by a player who is classified as a winger. Amazing CR simply second best as always to Messi, but still a great player on a great crazy giftet team of players."

Found it on goal in the comment section somewhere   Thougth it was a pretty funny read even though i support the team, and therefore Ronaldo. Comments on goal is just full of hating either way, not much else.

Hardest thing to do in football is score a goal, and he does it with remarkable ease time and time again. Never bought into the tap in argument, never will.

His positioning is really great, has been since Manchester as are his goal scoring abilities, even the penaldo's are great. Arguably the best goalscorer in the game.
Its just bullshit how he is even compared to Messi as a footballer and all the praise that comes with his tap ins when his play continues to be mediocre, especially in big games.
Just call him for what he is a quality goalscorer not a great footballer. Its like comparing Inzaghi to Henry, Gerd Müller to Cruyff or Jardel to Ronaldo, makes no sense.
And its done because of commercial interest of the (online)media but automatically leads to falsification of history.

Apparently, Ronaldo finally realized he's bad taking free kicks. Good for his team.

P.S. Since I was "very luck" to be picked up randomly as the thread starter, I've edited it and made a cool intro for Ronaldo. I hope you guys like it!

Yeah he is awful!
