To be honest, dribbling-wise, if that's the best CR7 ever, I would still prefer prime Arjen Robben
Yeah his dribbling was mostly built around pace and kick and run, rather than twisting or weaving. Not as much as Bale's but still.

Robben's was a bit kick and run sometimes too but he still had more ability to drop a shoulder, sell a dummy etc.

Yeah, Ronaldo wasnt even beating defenders fast enough to create significant space in this highlights video.

I'm a big fan of Robben. Yeah, he was speed abuser often, but that's normal when you have his speed. But he was also a good dribbler in other terms than speed. He have good body feints, he have Dembele-like "elastic" legs and stuff. And top tier, legendardy level left foot.

Agree on Robben, he's amongst my favourite players of the last two decades.

As for Ronaldo, yeah he abused pace but like you say even at his fastest wasn't as fast as Robben or Bale so he couldn't create the spaces. He relied more on dribbling in large spaces.

Another thing about Ronaldo is he takes big touches - he's not that great in terms of close control. If you watch him a lot of the time his dribbling seems 'not controlled' i.e. he's constantly reaching for it to prevent him losing the ball. Nothing wrong with that and other good dribblers have been the same, but what makes Messi so excellent and unique is his tough is so tight and his touches so small, and he always seems to be controlling the situation - he masters the ball, whereas the ball seems to dictate for Ronaldo, if you get my point :)

Yeah I get your point.

Ronaldo is top tier goalscorer. Whats making him one of the best is his positioning, physique, shooting with every part of his body and stuff.

His passes are top tier, but not from playmaking positions, more like backheel plays, one-two's and so on.

Those are things that he doesnt have and Messi have those qualities.

Yeah that's it - he's an adequate passer at his best - nothing amazing, but can sometimes play an impressive pass. He's good at backheels and flashy stuff as you say, stuff that often doesn't go anywhere and is more for show.

But his real talent as a footballer comes from the variety of his goalscoring, as you say.

2006-2013 Cristiano was a dribbling beast

At Juve he showed also great dribbling skills considering he was already 33+

Robben was a better dribbler but thats because he is one of best dribbler in this generation💯

The problem with Cristiano Ronaldo is that all the compliments showered on him are centred around his 'achievements and records' i.e. goal stats and trophies. It's no surprise that Lewandowski focused on these thins because he values much the same things (wrongly in my opinion).

Records are often meaningless in football - there are so many 'records' that are insignificant and achieve little.

As I said before, I judge players by their actual football attributes and performances, NOT by what they win or how many goals they score. In that regard, there's been plenty of better players than Ronaldo (despite his amazing goalscoring ability and feats), the most obvious one being well...obvious.

It gets extremely boring and tedious hearing about this guy's 'records, stats and longevity' and he himself is complicit in it, which is why I think he's not very bright. If we was he would think more about his passing, dribbling, vision, football IQ, free-kicks, ability in tight spaces and playmaking ability - all areas he severely lacks in next to a certain diminutive Argentinean (or two).
