Yeah he has no charm or charisma really, in fact the way he behaves indicates a high level of insecurity and autism, which ironically is what Tempt says Messi is (and he might be right).

The leader nonsense has always been bollocks. He has disappeared in more big games than people will admit, and even at Man United he was always throwing young players under the bus and asking why he was subbed and not them. It was so funny when people were saying the young players could learn from a legend like him when he went back - as if a cunt like him has any interest in helping the next generation at the expense of his own needs :lol:

In fact I think that is wildly overblown in general - 'the veteran players will help bring along the next generation and make them into better players'. Often it doesn't transpire that way. It's like people thinking Hojlund and Zirzkee would turn into lethal finishers just because RVN is training them :lol: People are so naive. That's like people saying you and I can run the 100 m in 10 seconds if we train with Usain Bolt.

Ronaldo just has insane level PR and propaganda and spin like a political figure.
It's very possible that Messi might be on the spectrum, but its probably a high functioning autism from what I noticed of him. He's never been a saint, he has the tax evasion conviction(same as Ronaldo), I think there were also some things related with his family getting too involved in his career and influencing decisions if I'm not mistaken. Messi was never the loudspoken guy, and to be fair there's nothing wrong in that. He had some bursts during the 2022 World Cup and people were already getting mad at him. I think he's more likeable than Ronaldo, though he's not a saint either. We dont know what he's like behind the curtains, but it's hard to believe he'd make a 360 degrees turn when there's no camera. Footballing wise he's everything Maradona was and more, without the cockish attitude. For me that is a bonus, not even mentioning his longevity.

Ronaldo on the other hand is too much of a media darling, he has been convicted for tax evasion(same as Messi), he has numerous rape charges against him(for all we know they could be fake but still). Dude has also started claiming victimhood since early 2010s or so, saying that the media and the footballing governments are against him. Ironic if we remember how the 2013 Ballon D'or voting was reopened in late november of that year. And there's also the fact that he has several kids with surrogate mothers, so much for being a family man.

Fully agree, especially on the Ronaldo paragraph. He and his fans do play the victim card even though he's the one who gets arse-licked far more than he deserves. I agree with Rassvet on so many football matters, but not this one lol.

Anyway gotta head offline now for real. I have eaten and did a bit of tidying while I wasn't posting and now need to shower.

Good video from when he was more entertaining when a teenager. There's still a lot of frustrating moments and scrappy technique from him, but in general I enjoyed watching this version of Ronaldo. Believe it or not back then I was a big fan of his as a player :ROFLMAO:

What I really like about this video though is the first song. I couldn't find out what it was called even after googling the lyrics, there appears to be no credit in the video and I refuse to read comments licking his arse that might mention the music. So I just downloaded the mp3 of the video and am playing it through VLC player.

Nightcore - Find A Way

First part of the song fits well with the 00s vibe/aesthetics. It's pretty nostalgic even if its a Cristiano PMV.

Thanks mate - appreciate it. I figured it was called 'Find A Way' but couldn't work out who the artist was. I will find the actual song and listen to it or download it preferably in FLAC this time.

Yeah it is an 00 sound for sure. I quite like that too and is fits the Ronaldo young video well.

Nite.

@Temptation Not to continue this looks talk too much, but Beckham doesn't seem too popular with many women on the Daily Mail website :lol: I often see him absolutely hammered on there too.

I think you overestimate just how many women find Beckham attractive - because of all his attention-seeking and the wankery about him online, he seems more popular to you than he actually is. You even admit yourself he's overrated in looks - never underestimate how much women like an intelligent guy (and no, making money doesn't make him clever) with a masculine voice i.e. not Beckham.

Always think of this video when it comes to male vs female gaze on Ronaldo

@Temptation
@Maradona37

Deleted my post as cannot be bothered arguing and it read like a rant anyway, for the second time tonight.

All I will say is that - yes - that video doesn't really confirm it as that woman has gone quite gently on Ronaldo, but men do generally think Ronaldo is a lot hotter than women do. Women look at face, personality, charisma, intelligence too. Whereas men see a full head of hair, over 6 foot and chiselled body and assume that is enough to make a guy handsome (despite a dodgy face). it isn't.

Yeah many women say he's too into his looks and too perfectly groomed all the time. Wayyyyy too metrosexual.

But then so are a lot of Hollywood "heartthrobs" so............
They're typically (Cruise, Pitt, C Hemsworth when he goes metro and not rugged as Thor, L Hemsworth, Chris Evans) a lot more handsome than him, though, even in their metro phases.

I don't think it is a case of...he becomes less metrosexual, and he's magically handsome...I don't think it works like that. I think he has a lot more problems with his looks than just being so groomed it puts women off. IN FACT, I actually think he's one of the few guys who looks better with all the grooming. Most guys look better rugged but he looks very weird when he has no tan, has no makeup on.

I think it's also because he either refuses to grow a beard or he simply cannot. Have you ever seen him with facial hair other than a few days stubble? Just that chin goatee in Russia. I saw AI photo of him with stubble and it was actually quite decent and hid his chinlessness. He should tan and do stubble.

Either way he has aged like milk as you say, and those stubble pics were from 2015 pics of him or so, so probably too late for him to do that and capture that look.

In general, he is definitely nowhere near many Hollywood 'heart throbs'. No matter what look he adopts, metro or natural, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth will always be far far more handsome than him. He might be better looking than Gosling of the more 'conventional' ones (ie excluding Cumberbatch, Hiddleston and Driver), but er, that is about it. And it says more about how lowly I rate Gosling's looks than anything positive about Ronaldo's.

To further expand. I would say Gosling, Ronaldo and Harry Styles are the three most overrated guys I have ever seen in my life, attractiveness-wise. Though loads of women find all of them ugly too. But they shouldn't be popular with women at all, any of them.

Definitely looks better than his clean shaven face. Amazing what a difference a bit of facial hair can do for a man's looks. He looks more masculine and less like a rodent there.

However, he will likely never ever grow that (unless he surprises us as an older man), so he will remain looking like the rat from Ratatouille.

Bit of a stream of consciousness here about the type of player he is.

Just watched that video again I posted earlier. It's excellent.

While his touches were a bit big and his technique was a little scrappy and unrefined, he really did have a lot of ability. I don't really buy that he's a 'product of hard work' - that implies he lacks talent. He does compared to geniuses, but he still has a considerable amount of talent himself (just that his standing in the all-time debate is greater than his actual ability).

i.e. he doesn't have all-time great level ability, but he still has a lot.

In a way it's a shame to see he gave up his more maverick, dribbling side. On the other hand, if he wouldn't have drilled into goalscoring, he'd likely not be seen as the player he is now (though some push back against him because he generally sacrificed his entertainment for effectiveness too). It brings in an interesting debate - how many players actually marry genius flair with effectiveness ('effectiveness' here being goals and assists and stats)? Messi is the best example, he has done it I guess, Ronaldinho and R9 to an extent. There's a host of players from the past who likely could have done it if G/A stats were as important in the 60s, 70s and 80s as they are now.

I guess, overall, people compliment Ronaldo for changing his game. But is there any universe he could have kept all his entertainment (I know he was still pretty entertaining his later days at Man U and early days at RM when he was scoring) AND been an amazing scorer and assister? I don't think he could have - I think he had to compromise.

I think that is why certain guys are so special. They are stats and eye test combined, to an all-time great degree in both.
