Was curious about this. According to Transfermarkt his main position was RW with United and he even played CF some games. The tactis were either 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or an assymetrical 4-4-2 with Ronaldo being a lot more offensive than the wide man on the other side, in other words he was always playing as a LW/RW. Wasn't really a midfielder in a classic sense.

"It was this season (2006/07) that Ronaldo gained a lot more freedom as an attacker. His primary position was on the right wing in a 4-4-2, but it was a dynamic counter-attacking system in which the front 4 (usually Ronaldo, Giggs, Saha, Rooney) would interchange."

"In 2007/08, Ronaldo completed his transformation. From tricky winger who sometimes tried to do too much, to unrelenting goalscorer, and best player in the world.

Tevez joined the attack that season and formed an incredibly effective attacking trident with Rooney and Ronaldo. Tevez and Rooney were similar players, tenacious battlers prepared to do the running out of possession, but also brilliant at the interplay aspect and selfless enough to act as willing support acts for the ruthless Ronaldo."

Nobody askey you to check my facts :whip:

Manu has mostly played with 442 and Cristiano was between 2007-2009 the definition of a wide midfield player and he was never a real CF dude....

They think Cristiano played winger because he scored so much 😬

The first time he changed from a midfield player to a winger was in 10/11 when Mou realized its not normal that a midfield player can score 40 goals per season so he put him on wing and the greatest goalscorer in football history has been born!

Since 14/15 he was mostly a CF (even though he had also his winger moments)

At 18/19 he started to be a winger again, ofc not as much as in his young Real days but he knew that Juve time needed his winger qualities to win titles.
