Says

"Ceballos prefers Barca"

Other tidbit if I read it correctly says that he told Barca he wants to play for the club and he has asked that his agent to not negotiate with other teams, especially Madrid.

Well if he comes and maybe Verratti or someone else then surely some Midfielders have to leave.
That would be Iniesta,Gomes,Rakitic,Rafinha,Denis,Ceballos and Verratti or someone else lol.
I know Rafinha wants to leave but that would still be 6 Players for 2 positions and we still have Alena in the B team.
If all this happens then keeping Gomes Looks really silly.

Denis said he'll stay guaranteed and he's apparently been told he's locked in for the next season so he's not moving anywhere.

They don't want to sell Gomes.

Arda won't leave until a team offers him comparable money to what he earns at Barca.

Rafinha is currently injured so teams will be wary of signing him.

Might be harder to sell some players

At least Rafinha might get some interest and Gomes is a Mendes client and could do a much better job for another team or even improve some at Barca.

Arda on the other hand still remains a bad transfer. Never the greatest fit, and we seemingly gave him more money than he earned at Atletico. Made no sense.

The interest in getting Ceballos seems to come from his U21 Performances and not losing another talented Player to Real Madrid.
This maybe changed their opinions on Denis or Gomes(doubt it).

I think it's both. His U21 performances sparked Real Madrid's interest in him and they don't want to risk out losing on another player like with Isco and Asensio, and arguably even Vallejo if he pans out.

If we sign a RB and stick to current 433 with MSN attack I can see it this way
Denis Paco Gerard in attack as back up for MSN. Munir will get sold.
Busquets with Roberto as back up
Iniesta on the bench and Samper shipped away. Ceballos in
Then you have many options, but in all of them I think Arda will be sold and probably Rafinha too:
1-Verratti or another high profile midfielder signed
a-He and Rakitic starting while Ceballos is brought. That means Gomes.
b-He and Ceballos or someone else (cough Gomes cough) starting, and we decide to cash on Rakitic before he is getting older. Gomes is staying and probably Denis/Roberto get more time as CM
2-Ceballos only brought in, he has been followed by Barca since 2015 IIRC and he has been always considered one of Spain elite talent since 14/15 season. This will mean we can't get Verratti and we don't like what we can get in the market.
In such case we have Rakitic/Iniesta/Ceballos. One more midfielder will be kept. I can see it either Gomes or Rafinha

Overall I don't trust Barca when they say they will retain someone. We always try to deal our players in respectable way and we don't push them out while leaking it to the media. But won't be surprised if we hear that 3 or 4 players are sold in next month.

Hate to double post, I've seen few of Ceballos recently tbh. What do you guys think of him in terms of fit into the team?
My opinion (and burden me if I am wrong) is that he is talented passer who can break defense with his passing,he understands his position and while he will go into penalty area of the opponents a lot he actually builds from the back -something that both Denis and Rafinha has lacked. He can retain the ball but he isn't good dribbler. Not sure if he can control the tempo and midfield.
He is good defensively, very aggressive to a degree of stupidity. 8 yellow cards in 30 games for a midfielder is quit a lot. like really a lot.

For a guy who is not a good dribbler, he dribbles 2.7 times per game, with nearly the same success
This number is higher than Isco (1.9), Pogba (2.4), Coutinho (2.3), verratti (2) (WHOSCORED)

I think he's a good dribbler, but has a tendency to dribble too much at times and lose possession. Something he has to work on, although looked pretty good in the U21.

I still do think he'll go to Real Madrid though despite it making less sense for him there given their midfielders.

If we sign him though, I hope he isn't as bipolar as he seem to be. Still an asshole, but if it's towards other teams without crossing the boundary than Barca itself then so be it.

Guaranteed to hate him if he goes to RM though. Already an asshole and would be an even bigger one there.

Thanks for the input. I am talking about dribbling to break defense, sort like Iniesta. He seem to me more of a guy who would get a dribble to retain ball or in midfield but not against tough defensive set. May be I am wrong though.

While I'm not expecting Xavi/iniesta levels of control from Dani, I do think he could be a piece of the puzzle we need to rebuild the Midfield though.
