Showed a side to Deco I haven't seen before. He lives in a plush 3rd floor apartment in Rio with his wife and children. He showed us around his home. It wasn't eccentric, vulgar or tacky like you'd expect with some footballers.

He also showed us arund his DECO 20 Institute for disadvantaged children. He initially put up 2 1/2 m Euros of his own money to build the complex/buy land, and it costs around four hundred-thousand a year to run, which he also contributes to.

I was surprised to hear that despite representing Portugal at international level, he considers himself very much Brazilian.

Sounds like a kind, humble, compassionate human being.

Well he grew up in Brasil until 19 I believe, when he went over to Portugal for the first time.

He learned all his football in Brasil and only choose Portugal I believe because it would be easier to breakthrough their midfield.

The ironic thing is that Brazil were in dire need of a midfielder like Deco over the last decade or so, somebody with the ability to pass the ball and dictate the play while not being a burden defensively. Instead they have had different combinations of workhorses in midfield while hoping players like Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho would produce some magic up front.

After reading the story what I can tell you is that a diuretic is not a performance enhancing drug.
A diuretic = a drug that makes you lose more water weight, sure it will help you lose weight but it's not a steroid that will directly impact your performance.

Unfortunately like Thiago, Deco went to Portugal because Brasil didn't pay any attention to him. lol

After reading the story what I can tell you is that a diuretic is not a performance enhancing drug.
A diuretic = a drug that makes you lose more water weight, sure it will help you lose weight but it's not a steroid that will directly impact your performance.

It's a drug that has been known to prevent detection of performance enhancing drugs though.
