Diego Costa

Zlatan does stupid stuff sometimes, like last year vs Chelsea, but it's usually not too malicious. He's only made a few malicious type fouls, that forearm vs Terry was one of them.

Costa however repeatedly does really dirty, malicious fouls. Headbutts, elbows, eye pokes. The guy is just a fucking scumbag. I'm not sure why Aurier just trips him, I'd go full force with my elbow straight in his face while not even bothering to hide it much. If there was one thing I lived by when I played, it was "if you want to hit, you're going to get hit".

Yes, but if you do that you are sure to get sent off. If you do it more subtle, you get revenge and might be able to get away with it.

Man Costa walks and hurts his hamstring. I really hope Falcao can score decently, I don't have a whole lot of faith but I don't have much choice.

Or maybe our attacking mids can step it up finally.

In a book about Diego Costa, "Diego Costa: The Art of War", it is said how we almost bought him in 2009:
“In 2009 people started to sit up and notice Diego Costa, and we had to think hard about what his next move should be,” says Jesús García Pitarch (Atletico sporting director).

“Even Barcelona wanted to buy him and their technical secretary, Albert Valentín, called to say, ‘What are your plans for him? I really like him – he looks like he’s got a bit of talent. We’d like him for Barca B’.

“‘Yes, I like him too. That’s why we bought him,’ I told him. ‘And I’m not going to sell him to you, firstly because I think this lad can go far and secondly because it makes no sense for me to sell him to you for €3m now. Better for me to wait five years and then you can
have him for €40m.’”

Valentín and Barcelona did not know, however, that Atlético were having problems with Costa in the summer of 2009.

García Pitarch: “He turned up 10 days late for preseason training, and then only after I had shouted and screamed down the phone at him. And when he did come back he was six or seven kilos overweight. The first thing he said to me was, ‘Why should I bother? You obviously don’t really rate me and I’d be happier if you’d just let me go’.

“‘Ok let me show you how highly we rate you,’ I told him. ‘How many years do you want? Four? Five? You tell me. We’ll draw up the contract here and now.’

“‘Well … I don’t know about that. I’d need to talk to my agent first,’ he mumbled.

“I was furious. ‘I see, first you tell me that Atléti doesn’t rate you and then, when I say you can dictate the terms of your own contract, all of a sudden you need to talk it over with your agent. We couldn’t do much more to show you how much we value you!’"

And he was right in the end. All I know about Costa is that a Mendes scout found him in Brazil aged 16 or 17 and brought him to Europe. So I think it was more Mendes than Atletico who orchestrated his development.

Anyway, he's done his hamstring again apparently, Mourinho said he was fine but he didn't even make the bench today.

If Costa is gonna keep having injury problems, and Falcao being shit, this years league might not be so easy for them as the last.

Yep I don't see Chelsea winning it with their sole striker Costa having these hamstring issues.

Our biggest issue is our lack of creativity and lack of real support in that department for Hazard. If we were actually better with creating things and not being so predictable, Remy could score a hatful.
