Diego Simeone

So Real is the team that drives him away despite him crushing them in La Liga for 3 years? A bit dramatic.

All the top teams have managers locked up and if he goes to a team like Lazio and Inter, he'd have to start all over again rebuilding which can take years with the finances they have while Atletico have world-class or close to WC level players, more money coming in, and the ability to compete instantly.

His only vice these past 2 finals is questionable decisions like not taking Torres off, starting Costa, and tactics during the extra time when Real looked like they couldn't walk anymore. During the last final, Atletico couldn't walk and Marcelo just waltzed in to score the game killing goal. Yesterday, Modric visibility couldn't run and Atletico were time-wasting instead of trying to score the game winning goal. Those types of decisions are amateurish.

It's the underdog mentality. I wouldn't call it crushing, they finished once above us,every other time below us. We're like 7 wins,6 draws and 7 lost vs ATM since Simeone came If I recall correctly. I'm counting the UCL final as a draw. We ALWAYS beat them in the UCL tho.

I hate their playstyle but yet I also like them. It's a weird thing. I hate their defensive set-ups,fouls,diving,wasting time. Yet I liked Atletico for a long time, when Aguero lead the line, when Torres lead the line, heck even Forlan. Simeone is a great coach but imo he lost the final. Everyone loves an underdog. Gimenez and Carrasco should have started .If they did I think ATM would have won. Imo this is one of the dumbest decisions I have ever seen. Real Madrid is shit defensively and really vulnerable. Salah could have scored at least 3 goals if he had better finishing than I do ffs. Carrasco is the perfect cryptonite for RM. He's fast and he has the dribbling skills. That's ALL you need.
I think Simeone should stay. He built a way too perfect team to just leave it. If he leaves ATM will be in the shambles. Not because Simeone is the only one that can lead them but because most of the great coaches already have a job. The only ones that could leave their job and make ATM tick are Emery and perhaps Low?
If Simeone leaves I think most of their promising or star players will leave. I think the likes of RM,Barca and EPL teams would pounce and snatch away the likes of Gimenez,Carrasco,Griezmann,Koke and perhaps even Oblak. RM,PSG,Man Utd etc would have no problem splashing 60 for Gimenez,80-100 for Griezmann. Same with Koke, plenty of teams would pay 60-80 M for him. Money isn't a problem for the big teams. If Simeone leaves I think most ATM players would want to leave for greener pastures. Pre-Simeone ATM is the Pathetico. If Simeone goes imo ATM will become a huge selling club. What would the players think? Simeone is probably like a God to them yet they lost the 2 finals and only won 1 La liga title. Anybody else, and we're back to being an inferior team is probably their way of thinking.
I should probably wish for Simeone to leave, getting Gimenez ,Koke or Carrasco would be amazing.

Why are you so obsessed with Atleticos Players when both Clubs won´t do business with each other.Especially Koke who would never go to Real Madrid.

You do realize that if Real decides to pay the buy-out clause and the player wants to leave( If Simeone leaves) that ATM would be powerless? And honestly I'd like Gimenez or Carrasco more since Koke would be a must-starter.

But you won't pay a 70m buyout clause since you'll have to pay taxes on top of it.

I know but how exactly big are the taxes ? % wise. And does anyone know the buy-out for Carrasco? Gimenez has a 50-60 buyout clause.

It can go from 20 to 45%.Not sure how it gets decided how much.
Of course Atletico would make RM pay these taxes.

Since 2014 I keep hearing he is thinking of Inter, but that would be a big mistake unless he is given a budget and the right to choose transfers, which even in this case would take 3 years to make a competitive team as it's a complete disaster over there.
They spend much money on mediocre names filling up a pretty large squad and wonder why their results are, consistently, mediocre.

Maybe he is tired of being 3rd to Real and Barca when it matters. Regardless of how consistent they've been, they have been trophyless for 2 seasons while Real and Barca collect trophies on their expense. At least in Italy, he can watch Juve win domestic doubles instead.

I have a feeling they will win CL sooner rather than later though. Their trajectory reminds me of Bayern. Losses 2 years apart but a win a year after.

Better than 5th to Juventus, Roma, Napoli and Fiorentina :xavi:.

As for the trajectory, we can always make scenarios based on "history repeats itself" but that's not the sense of it.

We could've made a parallel to Istanbul-Athens or even London 92-Athens 94 - Barcelona 99-Milan 01 ( lol, teams that won in 92/94 in this scenario were hosts in 99-01 :mathieu: )

Or we could parallel it to mandril 98-00-02 only this time it's 14-16-18 and all 3 finals against the same team :lucho2:.

But it's been long now and these things don't happen like this.

Inter is only an option in circumstances like Mourinho having the freedom to spend as much as he likes and bring players, but I fear Inter are way under what they were pre-Mourinho, at least back then they were CL material even if not winning material they also benefited a lot from Calciopoli and they were clearly topping Serie A, at least past the groups material, now their Europa League last-16 or something like that.

I doubt he'll join PSG but even if he does he deserves a relaxed job with best pay after everything he's given Atlético fighting Barca and Real giants.
