Diego Simeone

Lel you guys also said that last season when Atletico kept up in the title race until March and won the CDR. Back then, "going that far was all they could hope to achieve" especially with the loss of Falcao. This season, Cholo has carried them even further.

The thing I respect most is another quote he gave: “I’d give this season a nine and a half, we’re missing half." He then went on to speak about going even further and continuing to work hard.

Atletico have a debt situation but think of it this way: They've got a ton of prize money coming in for La Liga and the CL, TV rights money, sponsorship funds, and a new stadium on the way. They're growing as a club and I'm glad that we have another big contender in our league.

I wasn't one of those guys though.
While yes it seemed hard to believe that atletico could keep this up for so long, i was personally convinced they would, which is why i was one of the few to be happy when Real tied their liga game in the end.
That said, I don't think they will repeat this much success next seasons, which of course doesn't mean they won't be heavy contenders

Simeone is a born winner. His character is like a rock and that transforms itself into his teams and their hard nosed attitude. Morons in the press here are trying to compare him to Mourinho.

Atletico despite their defensive tightness still play attractive football and he always speaks as he finds from the heart and with humility. He also apologized after what happened on the field yesterday something that the not so Special One never does.

He will stay at try and build Atleti into a giant. One option could be like Benfica for example to buy the best young South Americans for instance.

Correa is almost a certainity to replace Costa and Rulli is also rumoured to come in as well. Besides he gets the proverbial 110% out of his players every time. They adore him. And that is something extremely rare in football today.

He's a man on a mission :worthy:

Lost 4 crucial players after heartbreak in a CL final yet now he's on his way to making the squad even stronger than before and holds daily triple sessions to get them prepared for the season ahead. A title defense cannot be ruled out by any means, hell if they get Lavezzi for the left and move Koke to the center they'll be one of the most balanced and best teams in Europe.

------------Oblak
Juanfran-Godin-Miranda-Siqueira
---------Gabi----Koke
-Arda--------------------Lavezzi
-------Mandzukic-Griezmann

And now depth in all areas with Moya, Ansaldi?, Gimenez, Saul/Tiago/Suarez, and probably more players are incoming. Barca, RM, Bayern, Atletico, and Chelsea are all on the same tier this year squad-wise and in success projection. Dortmund could be too if they recover from the injury troubles of last season. Exciting times for football.

Hope Luis Enrique succeedes this year but if he fails a combination of Simeone and Koke would be amazing and almost mandatory for the next year.

Simeone? You must be kidding. There's no way his philosophy would be accepted in Barcelona. But Koke is more than welcome.

Ppl thinkling of bringing Simeone to Barca seemed to not have learnt from the Tata debacle

Forget about Koke. The fact that he signed a 60m buyout clause shows that he is committed to Atletico. Even if he somehow ends up leaving it wont be to Barca as he wont betray his club

I'm actually shocked he has managed to convince people to join Atleti even after they lost key members. I think they will be a force in Europe but I still see La Liga back to being a 2 horse race.

Might as well post it here too since I already translated it.

Talking about Simeone, he participated in an interview from the french football tv-show Telefoot this morning.

Here's my translation of the important part:
Last summer, no one discussed with me. I heard and read a lot of things, but there was no truth to it. PSG? That club makes progress. They are building a team with renowned players, but you have to pick players that understand the whole process to reach this target that the CL is. My future? I can't see myself staying 10 years in the same club. I am not somebody who's composed. Coaching in France? I'm open to anything.

He's a superb coach but I really dislike the guy. He always uses underhanded tactics and his temper is one of the worst in this business.

His temper is part of his coaching at this point. It galvanizes his team.

He's not a fabulous tactician. He trains players to be barbarians/warriors on the field.
