Looks like the deal on signing Song for app. 20 million euros is close.
Let's see the votes.

Nope. I think he'll be a hleb 2.0, but I hope I'm wrong. I also think we could get someone cheaper, as what is needed is a squad player.

It's kinda unorthodox signing for us, because of his flashy looks and bold personality, but also a curious one.

The physics and technical skills are there, so everything else is in Tito's hands. If his work is success, we could see a new, a lot of better Song than we know. I don't have nothing against this signing. Surely it looks as a gamble, because of his reputation of undisciplined and error-prone player (at least it's what they say), but we could be adding something good to our squad. Or not. Time will tell.

We had two strong african guys in our midfield in the last couple of years and both of them served us well. Let's see how it goes now.

As about the money - it's always kinda subjective, because different people look at the market in a different way.

I don't want any b2b midfielder, not even free, since we don't use one in our usual lineup.

I would pay anything for a good CB. But generally speaking, yeah, Song is worth 20 mil. A team who actually needed a player like him, i.e. not us, would be happy with that.

Hi, its me..
i have this strange feeling he'll be Mascherano 2.0 :pep:

you've heard it here first

well thats not a bad thing.

id rather have martinez, but as he'll be around double the price that wont happen. Id also rather have a decent CB as i dont think any of our younger guys can step up yet, but with Silva going to PSG there isnt really anyone else that would come for the money we have. Song will provide decent cover for any of the CM positions, and although he doesnt play the same role as Thiago, i hope him probably arriving doesnt effect his playing time.

Hopefully the back line will stay injury free.

No. I just don't see why we want him at all... He certainly won't be anything more than 5:th or 6:th choice as CB, he's too undisciplined to replace Busquets as our pivote and we're already stacked at central midfield. He'll be competing with Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Thiago, Ibi and possibly Jonathan Dos Santos. He'll also "contribute" by limiting the amount of first team chances Sergi Roberto and Rafinha will be given, both this year and the next. So he might essentially destroy the chances of Roberto joining the first team (I'm not sure he has what it takes) and at the same time give Thiago less time on the pitch (Cesc will be way ahead of Song in the pecking order anyway).

So much for Barca fans overrating Song. Most of us don't even approve the signing!
Can't say I watched him that much but I do value his versatility and ability to play with both feet.

I guess, there won't be new Yaya in the near future, and for meager 10 mil.

Busquets sent Yaya to the bench. That should be a pretty good indication that we shouldn't want a lesser version of him.
