Eden Hazard

His current form isnt representative of what he is capable of, and potentially he can be world class imo. But there is just something about him that makes me not wanting him to come here. Im not sure he he will ever have that mentality and killer instinct required, for lack of better words.

Was a quality save though

Yup, a bit harsh to say Hazard "missed" the penalty. Butland guessed right, and still got his hand up while diving low. Hazard's shot looked like it was heading close to the upper back corner with decent pace, would have needed to be into the side netting to avoid the block.

Missed penalties are always on the pk taker. A well taken pk is always a goal, even when the gk guesses the correct side.

Nah, I won't say it's always on the PK taker.

Of course it is. The pk taker has all the advantage. A well taken penalty is unstoppable. The gk can defend only when it isn't well taken. They have no advantage, the pk spot is too close for a gk to be able to save a top drawer shot, or even a bottom one, with full speed.

Well, I'd just say that an unstoppable penalty is a better than just well taken - it's perfect.

So just because a player doesn't blast it into the corner it doesn't mean it was poorly taken. Especially considering how risky it is to do so.

If a gk defends it, it was poorly taken. Pk are called "half-goals" because the taker has all the advantage. Sometimes poorly taken pk's get in anyway for that reason.

True. The margin for error when the keeper guesses the correct direction is greatly reduced. Keepers will mostly defend low. Even if a kicker places the ball just inside the post, the keeper has a good chance of stopping it if it is low. Power and placement high in the side net or in the roof towards the post are the only guaranteed conversions. The reason the keeper defends low is to force the kicker to take a riskier shot to beat him. Hazard's kick quality was about 90% power, 85% height, 85% angle. It needed to be better a bit on either height or angle to beat Butland.
