Eidur Smari Gudjohnsen

He doesn't bitch, he doesn't moan, he is experienced, and when he plays he isn't bad at all.

I honestly don't know why people want him to leave. Just because he wasn't given much of a chance last season, doesn't mean that he is shit.

This season we need all the backup in the midfield we can get with YAYA and Keita leaving, and as much as I like our youth products and how they are coming along, having an experienced player is always essential. Let him stay, it's not like he is inversely affecting our performances or being a hassle off the pitch.

The point is that Madrid is getting stronger with every match they play and I expect a minimum of 90 points this season from barca and r. madrid because obviously la liga is getting more and more like etc. scottish league - just two main title challengers - Glasgow and Celtic, Barca - Madrid and i really don't want to know what will happen if we get Iniesta injured or Xavi, Gudjohnsen is definetly not an option to replace them. Just imagine not having Xavi or Iniesta, or even both of them injured during some derby games - Yaya, Keita, Bosquets or even Messi as CM are way more better than Gudjohnsen. He's 31 yrs old and he can't prove much right know.

i know he is a big build but he is carrying a lot of weight, after watching him at both the wembley cup and in the gamper i feel jonathan and thiago are better options despite their inexperience.

That is irrelevant. The question you have to ask is, if they do get injured, do we actually have anyone else to replace them?

As much as I rate our youth players, you can't just throw them into any game. We loaned out Hlen, Ketia and Yaya will be gone for the African Cup, that doesn't leave us with alot of players. We have a thin squad as it is. Unless we get a replacement, Guddy should stay.

No midfield coming, and i don't think there won't be another signing this summer, it's better for guddy to stay.

i agree

i dont hate guddy at all he did score a few important gols for us (betis)
however i think he knows he will not get alot of mins, but he loves playing here and his son is in the youth ranks so i do not think he wants to have to start over with things..

I dont see why we'd keep Gudy, he did get playing time, maybe not as much as he'd like but when he was on the pitch her never did anything. And if you disagree than your under a harsh false illusion. I saw him as a road block to almost every attacking run we had that comprised of him touching the ball. He'd merely trap then turn around stopping the run or move forward and make a shitty pass. I'm not and have never been impressed with him since he's been at Barca. I'm sure he's trying, he seems like he does, but by the way he is playing he doesnt deserve to be on this squad. Bousquets has proven to carry out his role pretty well when he goes in and although I'm not really convinced by Keita either, he did score a few key goals. I would of liked to see them trade Gudy/Sanchez and bring in another world class midfielder, creative in nature. This would give Xavi a rest. Although Toure has been playing GREAT so far, I still dont see him as fullfilling Xavi's role and if he tries to then that means we'll need another defensive midfielder in as well (or at least not an strictly attacking minded one in).

Its baseball, "transfer" ok? Need to be less fickle imo. And I dont see where exactly Keita has been brilliant? He was the best out of Gudy, Sanchez (who is gone, I said before in another post to get rid of him and Gudy for cash and keep Keita as a sub) and himself, but that doesn't really say much. I'm bound to accept that not every player on Barca can be a superstar, but I'd also support cleaning out the trash and bringing in one great player then using our youth players to rest when needed.

We're going to need a top notch squad all around if you want to keep up the brilliance of last year cuz our competition certainly have improved themselves. If your ok with mediocre subs then your going to get mediocre results. God forbid Xavi or Iniesta get injured.
