I forgot that abidal started the move for our first goal. It was brilliant. He ran with the ball, passed it to messi, and then ran wide and messi passed it to iniesta and abidal dummied it and ran into the box, then iniesta passed to messi and we scored. It was sublime.

uefa don't listen to appeals.
it's a mixed thing, him missing the final. on the one hand he offers NOTHING in attack and tbh is a pretty average defender when having to stand up to a forward himself.
however on the cover he's absolutely world-class and he could have been so useful helping our defence take care of ronaldo since he's our only defender who's anywhere near as fast as him.

As long as we can get a nice defensive LB in replacement (and using Cáceres as backup), I would wrap him in a pretty basket and ship him straight to Torino...

noooo, i really like Abidal, i think that he is perfect left back for Barca, 'cause right back, Alves, is very offensive and we need left back which is good in defence and Abidal is that kind of back.

yes but there are plenty of LB's out there who are good in defence but also not SUMMARILY USELESS IN ATTACK which abidal really is. he's so bad offensively I hadda roll out all-caps.
plus abidal is also rubbish when defending his wingers. he allows them far too much space to cross/get around him.
so basically he's just good on the cover. and he's really really good, great even, on the cover. but we can't afford to have someone so one-dimensional in our team. it's worked this season but next year teams will try harder and defend deeper. we need a viable offensive LB so that we can rest dani on occasion.

I can't agree with this, maybe you didn't noticed but in last few games he had some good runs, he didn't always run with the ball, but always one opposite defender must run after him and thanks to that Henry get more space..and i think that Abidal has improved his crosses too.

Alves has been much worse than him recently. And he's a superb LB one of the best defensive ones and perhaps second in LB rankings after Lahm since Evra has been pretty average throughout the season.
He would be vital in the CL final and if I had to chose bet. him and Alves for the final I'd pick him. Hopefully the appeal is successful and the red card revoked.
