Epl have money to spend like that, and they'll keep inflating the market. It's on their interest to do so too.
People have been talking about the "inflated market" for many years now. We are doing our best to "inflate" it as much as anyone by the way. Its just that we splash huge amounts of money on players with no sell-on value like Arda, Mathieu etc etc. The market is not inflated, its not distorted when the new money pouring into the game is skyrocketing. The value of the top football clubs is increasing extremely fast every year and it will be reflected in the prices and wages.
The market is inflated. You're forgetting the new tv deal eps teams got. Clubs like Everton with 130m euros to spend, while so far Barça reportedly have a bit over 60m. That will change the market, and the other leagues better wake while they can.People have been talking about the "inflated market" for many years now. The price for Arda is what other clubs were willing to pay. That is not Barca distorting the market by overpaying compared to others.
When discussing the fees of those players you just ignore the distorted market anyway and compared it to the price of players his age up to 15 years ago.
Whatever you say. We are as much part of this "inflation" as the rest of them. Its just that we focus on oldies. If we buy someone good who is younger than 25 like most top clubs do, people here will go crazy because they cant believe the price we just paid. It will be probably be close to twice as expensive as what most people here assume (judging by the prices people throw around). When I mentioned Bailly as an option a few months ago, several people claimed he was no where near good enough for us, and wanted us to sign Marquinhos for 40m euros. Good luck with that!
By making money and being able to spend more then yes Barca do play a part.
Barca have always paid big fees and a few times much more than palyers are worth in the past so that is nothing new.
What is new is the huge EPL TV market and billionaire owners. Those are far bigger reasons for the market exploding than clubs over paying for players which has always happened.
Well, all I am saying is that we are as guilty as the rest of them. Its precisely the huge amounts of money pouring into football every year (from TV deals, billionaires, huge new markets opening up, increased popularity of football) which causes the teams to be able to spend so much money. Thats why there is no "inflation" or distortion and thats why people thinking we can buy players like Pogba on the cheap are totally deluded.
Not about being guilty of anything.
Over paying for players has always happened from every club at times so if you are looking for reasons about market exploding it is irrelevant and not anything to be pointed too.
How about Barca signing players for less than they are worth? Ter Stegen, Bravo, Rakitic even Neymar now could go for twice as much. Is that Barca taking market back down?
It doesnt work like that and Barca having money and spending big is not a cause of this boom in prices.
Ter Stegen, Ney and Raki all had a year left on their contract which basically halves their prices. Player prices are a function of the length of their current contract and the wealth of their current team (being able to hold on to their player), of course in addition to their ability.
