It’s a bit too narrow. The teams have figured out the double pivot... Don’t press in the centre only do it on the flanks and go hard for counters.Games like these makes me wary of counting us as UCL favorites. We've seen in the past how teams have managed to neutralize our attack even with MSN and a younger Iniesta and Rakitic, and even with Alves.
With 4-4-2 we've gotten more balance, but lost some attacking firepower, but that just means a team could score one goal against us and eliminate us, or we could score one goal and then counter them when they have to attack.
Either way I predict getting the first goal would be vital, almost to the point it would put a team as a huge favorite in the tie and that could get very problematic.
I'd be cautiously optimistic rather than be overconfident just because we look more defensively solid. We've sacrificed a bit of our attack to be more solid.
What you end up with are players playing wider than usual and pumping in crosses. Iniesta really shouldn’t be that wide taking on players by the byline. That’s the full backs job. Anyway, it is what it is at this stage.
BBZ8800 will say play the 4-4-2 with work horses (which has worked and will probably continue to work) and I will say change to 4-3-3 False 9. Suárez and Messi can’t play in the same 11 with the players we have.
Today it looked more 4-2-3-1 for me but the problem was Paco’s indiscipline and to a lesser extent Coutinho.
