Ernesto Valverde - V1

Higher standards... Given you have a bunch of post-Pep orphans who don't know any other way to successfully dominate European teams and achieve massive success in the CL (bar the one season where top-heavy approach worked out for you)... I don't think you ought to complain a whole lot. Pique-Busi need to be moved on. In the league you're pretty much fine and always contending with whatever squad you have. Just gotta get deattached from players who are getting too old to be versatile.

This bullshit argument again. "We aren't playing like shit, you are just spoilt by the pep era". I thought this argument would have died down by now after almost everyone using this excuse to defend EV last season. "We are unbeaten ffs and you still complain", well tough titties bro but even when we were unbeaten it was thoroughly undeserving. Same shit now.

With amount of funds, resources and the goat, we have we should be somewhere where we expect us to be. I am sorry but I can't help but foresee a massive humiliation in the CL by a proper team under this joke of a manager.

You've totally misread everything that post was about. Not surprised.

We were lucky to escape with the 3 points. VAR saved EV bigtime. Suarez should have been off long before the 90th minute. He was struggling in the 2nd half and looked really heavy legged. The state of the pitch didn't help much either. His minutes need to be managed better by EV. Seems like he's trying to play Suarez back into form but at the same time with his age and the shape he's in, he could be burned out before Christmas. Not smart at all. Arthur could have come in and help control the midfield as Raki and Busi started to look dead tired. EV prefers to bring in Vidal and park the bus. No surprises there.

Whats with all the complaining? You are winning matches without even playing well, just like a bunch of times last year, and look were that got you, an easy domestic double.
Thats what league champions do, picking up points regardless of "form".

What exactly is there to be happy about any of this? We used to win matches while also playing well, and winning the league is kind of easy with you guys being such a joke even with Cronaldo.

We're aiming for the CL and we're nowhere close to getting that. At this point we can't even make the semis.

Some of you folks only care about the La Liga and Copa trophies we get at the end of the season or the stats for your favorites players without necessarily caring about tomorrow.

Fair enough.

But I think the majority here also want the team to play good football and actually dominate the opponent for 90 minutes which teams of this stature should be able to do. I think most here also want Barca to show they're able to take their game against the elite in the CL and play a complete game of football where the result doesn't simply rely on the individual brilliance of a couple of our players and a lot of luck + help from the post or Mr. Own Goal.

Under Valverde that's rarely been the case.

Lucho's last season was bad, but we did play entertaining football dominating the opposition in the two first seasons under him. He also held certain players accountable and benched them when they didn't play well enough, like Pique, Rakitic and Alba. He obviously had his flaws too. Not great tactically, had an obsession with certain players which also resulted in some poor signings. But we played well and looked like a team that could take on anyone.

Under Valverde I just don't see it. And I'm not seeing it despite spending a lot of money. I also don't see any talent development under him which could make up for some of the other issues.

So stop calling people for entitled all the fucking time. If you can't see why some people have their reservations with Valverde then you you're better off staying shut or simply asking why they're so vocal with their criticism.

After the millions we've spent WE ARE ENTITLED TO WATCH SOME HALF DECENT FOOTBALL.

I keep waking up early to see a bore fest /shit fest.

Real Madrid fired Fabio Capello despite him winning the league after three years without winning anything because of the style of play and Champions League exit.

Some people really lack some proper perspective. We've spent close to 400m euros in the last 3 transfer windows alone and we should expect pragmatic turgid football because we get results this way. Like this is such an impressive thing. Of course we get results, the majority of the teams can't boast a forward line with the GOAT and another 300m worth of attacking talent. It's the least we can fucking do to beat these teams.

Get it through your thick skulls that we should not aspire to be Atletico, Chelsea or some other catenaccio team. Hell, even Chelsea have appointed a progressive, attacking manager and lo and behold, he didn't need nearly half a billion worth of talent to play attractive football and get results in one month and 3 matches. Now don't tell me Chelsea have a better squad than us and poor Valverde can't do much else than to play this sort of boring ass football. Shut it.

Right on brother!!!

It's fucking laughable that people still want more star players. You could bring Lewandowski, Kante, Hazard and Verratti and Valverde would still serve up shit football.
The biggest indictment is the fact that we still look like a team that hired him last week.

So many fans complaining on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter. Even Tata wasn't bashed this badly.

Valverde is just clueless. Completely unsuited for the job.

Valverde has proven to be a defensive pagmatic manager. He wont attack too much unless he has to. Only a manager like that would think about defending a 1-0 lead against Valladolid.

Ie can score goals while not risking too much fine, if not he's happy to get those crappy 1-0, 2-1 wins. He's not actually interested in playing nice football.

It's UCL or bust for Valverde and even though this is already lining up as a shitty season topped by a UCL trashing, his ass is gone at the end of the season and luckily this transfer window was pretty good in securing some perspective players.

That and a good, tactically sound manager with balls to clean up useless dead weight like Suarez should put us in a good position.

Don't think we'll win a trophy this year, La Liga will be tough, with Atletico having the fire and the squad and i also think real will be a bit more focused on the domestic front this time around/UCL is out of discussion/and the Cup..no one really cares.. we will probably get beaten by Atletico..

How many times has Ter Stegen saved us last season when we mailed it in for the last part of some match? A lot, that's how many, because we're not a team that can fucking park the bus properly. The keeper saving shots left, right and center does not mean that we are a great defensive team. It's the same fucking shit Lucho tried to do with subbing in another defender and use the double pivot of Busi and Mascherano. Suffice to say, it didn't work great.

Last game is another example of us not knowing how to defend that good. We barely survived against Valladolid for 20 minutes. Maybe next time that guy from Valladolid won't be in a marginal offside or Ter Stegen doesn't bail us out. Then what? Why does it have to reach that point to find faults in Valverde's approach?
