Valverde is speaking the truth. He is single-handedly helping Espanyol bridge the gap by making us so much worse than we can be.

A classic example of a diplomatic answer and being the "humble" guy. Not much different from Lucho's, Tata's, Tito's, Pep's, Rijkaard's etc. approach back in the day. One should not take comments made in public (during press conferences) at face value. A different discourse is used in the dressing room. This cautious approach always works (although it is an incredibly tiring thing as it is your typical diplomatic answer covered with a lie or two) and is the least controversial approach. You have nothing to lose with such an approach as a manager. On the other hand the other route (approach) can quickly end badly for you.

I can't fantom that some fans have not figured that out yet as illustrated above.

:lol::lol::lol::lol: The type of general to lead his troops with:

"Gentleman, the enemy is strong. A draw will do"

Do you really believe, for one second, that this is what he is telling the dressing room before the game?:messi:

Just having a bit of fun. I mostly agree with your post on the previous page about the general direction of the club but for me, Valverde is directly culpable for some decisions such as his 1) refusal to develop our young stars unless he's forced to 2) total incompetence in game management/reaction and subs 3) ultra conservative brand of football despite having one of the top 3 squads in Europe 4) inexplicable vendetta against players like Malcom that weren't demanded signings by him. Sure, you can pin some of the blame on the board for making the wrong choice in selecting EV, but the onus falls on him as a professional and as a leading figure at one of the most historical institutions in world football to have some sort of reflection/change on what HE might be doing wrong. But we've seen none of that, yet and we're nearly 1.5 years in.

We all know that the biggest problem in this club is the piss poor leadership provided by the sorry excuse of a president that is Bartomeu. However, what most Barcelona fans despise nowadays, is not necessarily being outplayed or beaten by teams with similar budgets and stature, although it's frustrating as hell, but being constantly on the back foot against teams like Villareal, Rayo, Eibar, Alaves, Psv etc. Losing against this sort of teams is fine even, but when there are periods of time in the game when they absolutely hammer us in all aspects, then it's stops being a personnel problem and becomes a coaching problem. No matter how many hours will Valverde fans try to argue that our team is subpar from a talent perspective, the hard truth is that we have a vastly superior squad compared to most teams aside from maybe 5 in the whole world. That's where Valverde has failed time and time again and showed what a mediocre coach he is.
