I just cant see how you can put this performance down to Rakitic. He wasnt anything special, just solid. I have no doubt we would have looked the same with Arthur. Roberto, Suarez and Messi were spot on today. But I see your point, no worries, maybe you are right.

I am not so sure we are worst defensively with Arthur - Frankie playing. Today, in the last 20-30 minutes, we were shaky as hell. Even when "Vidal the warrior" came in we got even worse. Why? Because this team's strength is not defending. I cannot stress this enough. We just can't defend for long periods. We need to have posesion most of the time because that is where we are better than other teams. So, building a possession based system is better for our group of players. That is why Raki - Busi - Vidal, is no longer sustainable. They give up possession effortlessly, so we back off and concede pressure.
Consider this: Would the last 20-30 minutes be worse or better if Arthur came in instead of Vidal?

The problem is the low block is not a tactic most of the time. It's a failure of something else. So when something is not working right, the low block appears because the other team exploits the errors.

Schone: 1,6 tackles+1,1 interceptions+0,7 clearances per match
Van Der Beek: 1,5 tackles+0,8 interceptions+0,6 clearances

Now, Arthur last season:
0,6 tackles+0,3 interceptions+0,3 clearances.

Now, a simple question: do you think that Frenkie will look better defensively when he plays with Schone or even Van der Beek, or when he plays alongside Arthur?

Rakitic: 0,9 tackles+1,5 interceptions+0,8 clearances.

I know that you guys are obssessed with build up and press resistance since you started to follow football during Pep.
But sadly, in 2019, when you pair two midfielders where one is young and shaky, and the other one is young and bad in defense, you get=shaky defense.

John talked how we need to keep possession, well that worked when we had 3 good midfielders and 3 mobile attackers.
Plus Alves who played as a false midfielder.
That was 7 players for keeping possession.
How will you copy that style with only 2 mobile midfielders?

So, no, we probably can't play defense by keeping possession but=with playing actual defense.
