So he is shitty because he hasn't managed a big club yet, he hasn't coaches Barca b, Suarez is injured, our team is in a bad state and finally because his teams didn't have an end product. Only the last part has some merit. All the other stuff are at least irrelevant and don't contribute to the point that he is shitty or not.
His teams didn't have Messi either, so that will be fixed.

You can't hire great coaches for short term in the middle of the season.

Yes, if your are in bad situation your choices are limited. But hold on, it is the primary job of management/board to WIDEN their options in advance, long before things looks so shitty, that you have to act in an emergency mode!
After 2.5 (!!) years they realized, as it seems, over night, that Valverde is not the right man? Excuse me.... and replaced him with someone, who is on paper, not a great trainer, yet? Fine for a mid range club, but inappropriate for one of the top clubs in the world.

I am not surprised that this board is not able to produce better "moves" - however good management is something else.

Instead of finding a top trainer and investing time in this search - they now had to rush things (or so it seems). Why not haggle for 2-3 months with some real candidates? Or was that already done behind the scenes? But please not with ex-baca players with 0 trainer experience like Therrie, Xavi, Inesta, Etoo or former children barca equipment managers ........ I want REAL proven trainers with track records - not some board boot lickers but tons of barca DNA!

I hope Kike does not turn out to be a Valverde v2.5! I wish him & us all - all the best.

He could turn out to be good. Stranger things have happened. However I was right about Shitverde. Before he was appointed I said he'd be a bad fit. Getting same vibes with Setien.

It happens all the time with all top clubs, Madrid, United, Chelsea, Bayern...etc.

Not sure what to think of Setien myself yet but i don't know what some people here expected. Pep, Tito, Tata, Lucho, Valverde...it's not like CL level experience is a priority at Barca. They also tried to get Xavi, someone without any experience at all.

For now i'm just happy Valverde gets sacked. Then we'll have to see how things go and how they handle the coming summer. And maybe at least wait a week or two before calling the new guy a bootlicking shit coach.

Amen.

Give Setien 6 month contract and see how things go.

The downside, though, to giving a 6 month contract is that players will be aware that he's leaving in the summer so they might not fully commit to him

I doubt they will commit to him anyway. This team needs a strong personality to lead ♄. The seniors are in decline and losing motivation. Anyway trophyless season coming up.

We don't know what his personality is as a manager until we see him interact with these stars. Appearances aren't always right.

Not a huge fan of Pocch as said before but I think he would of been the safest bet for a mid season change.

I like Setien as much as I liked other managers Who tried to play attacking football (Víctor Fernández in the 90s, Pepe Mel in his first Betis stint) but dont know if he has what it takes at a big club. Deserves a chance and exciting to see if he can make Barcelona play great again.

I dont see a problem with the contract length. Enough time to give Setien security. Meanwhile there no doubt is a clause if he does not meet expectation.

Seeing as we are (hopefully) close to being done with this thread. I want to give a shout-out to the most delusional Valverde fanboy to have ever graced this forum Xtroverto one last time.

Honorable mentions go to : BBZ , The Observer/Ursegor , Tackle and Garrus.

Im sure I forgot a few , but its hard to keep track of the cheerleaders.

George Costanza said a few pages ago that everything what you do in life will come to haunt you back.

Now, take a deep breath and imagine a future and what should happen to guys who are still calling him Shitverde and how his thread shouldn't be renamed.

Especially when you realize that we will sink even deeper from now on.

Further, I am reading posts how we will watch enjoyable football and TikiTaka again.
Have these fans never watched football, cycles and new coaches?

1. Our team is full of old grannies. They will run never again.
2. Further, 90% of coaches don't make an immediate impact but they need a few Months until they get used to payers and until players start to understand ideas from a new coach

Further, about sacking midseason, there are two options:
1. A huge improvement and positivity
2. Or more likely: everything is negative already. If a coach will start bad with a few bad results, players will lose even more confidence, some fans and media will turn to players and a new coach and we could be way lower than today.

I see that people are writing about positive changes, nice football and similar.

Seriously guys, have you watched Barca pre Pep?

The last two times when we had interim coaches, we barely ended 4th in 2001 under Rexach due to Rivaldo's scissor kick for 3:2 in the 90th minute of the last round against direct opponent Valencia.
And in 2003, with interim coach Antic we won a 6th position in the last round, lol.

In neither case there wasn't any positivity or any improvements.
A team was the same shit under Ferrer, Rexach, Van Gaal and Antic, due to a simple reason=because a team was shit and toxic.
And nothing changed until we sold all toxic and bad players and turned the page with Rijkaard.

If my estimations are true, that our team is dead, old and finished, then this will be a funny 6 Months, lol.

Also, there is one thing which I am looking for: Semedo, Arthur and co won't have excuses anymore.
Till now, every player was bad due to EV.

If our players will play the same under Setien... you know the answer then.

Some of you were quite nasty and hostile towards EV and some fans here.
You know what will happen with my replies towards a new coach and some players if they will be shit from now on.

Oh, fun times are coming 😍
