I feel sorry for him in some ways but I also don't feel sorry for him at all.

He had so many chances to be more than a running gag who relies squarely on Individual Brillance, but he didn't. He chose to remain a coach who has no depth to him at all, any sort of change he made he would quickly revert back to the same old conservative shit when things get heated.

After all Valverde just wasn't good enough. I don't think he went out of his way to play bad football or rely on Messi but he just couldn't do any better. I don't think he had the skills to form an actual team or develop young players even if he had the balls to stand up to the seniors.

As much as these 2,5 years made me dislike him i can't really blame him because in the end it's not his fault they gave the job to him and even renewed the contract without any need of doing so. Sure he could (or maybe even should) have resigned after Anfield but normally the board should've 100% sacked him at that point anyway instead of leaving this decision to Valverde.
