I think history will be kind to Valverde's Barca

Valverde's history will be tied to what he does after Barcelona imo. If he goes back to a midtable club then he will be the guy who was a LaLiga two-hit wonder but blew the CL twice and eventually got sacked.

If he goes on to be employed and have success at another big club or national team then his time here will be more favourably looked at, as getting the last hurrah out of a veteren team.

It is what it is -
Einstein. 1948
Valverde. 2018

Valverde is a not a good coach but he is not a bad coach either. A good coach would have at least got 1CL in the last few years with Messi in the team.

Time to appreciate him a bit more. He clearly wasnt the problem

He kept this shit show of a team together for too long instead of demanding change. He was perfect yes man. That was his key attribute to his survival. Please players and management. It paid off for him.

We weren't rebuilding in 2017 no matter what he asked.
In 2018 & 2019 he would either be fired for asking for change or we will have a rebuild led by non other than Abidal.
In both cases, we would still be in deep shit.

Some people still blame Valverde lol.

If we had improved after he left, they would have gone crazy talking about how this showed EV was the problem and some terrible cancer on the team. Instead, we've gotten much worse and none of the players held back by EV have improved, yet they'll still be blaming for our problems even years after he's gone.

Some will still say Valverde could not rebuild team so he would take all the blame. But no one can rebuild the team with the corrupted board. They are also the one that believe everything will be better once Valverde left but now things become worse and worse.

2017 was damage control year after Neymar left. I admit he did excellent that year, other than Rome defeat. It was perfect season for the expectations or way above them really.

Of course, can't blame him for Coutinho and Dembele flopping. We made two galactico signings and both failed, that's one big reason why we are in this shitter now. Actually make it three failed galactico signings
. Griezmann belongs to list too.

Imagine if two of those signings panned out? We would look like a different team, but nope.

He was a very good coach who got the best from what he had. He did not have a world class team. Still he won two La Ligas and was so close to winning the Champions League. Did he tell the players to take it easy during the 4-0 corner? No he didnt.
