Valverde's victories in Champions League weren't exactly dominating wins. Even in 18/19, the team didn't have a convincing win over Man Utd or Lyon. He got results, but it was slow, ugly, and unconvincing football.

Lets be honest team was crap, same team was destroyed by bayern 2-8 (+ Frenkie) and that bayern wasnt even half of 12/13 Bayern. 4-0 against Manu and 5-1 against Lyon is more than what should be expected

Lyon and that Man UTD is a very low standard.
People whine about Inter of this season, but Inter of this season is I don't know how many levels above that Man UTD and Lyon...

That team never beat a serious opponent in the CL in an important game, none of the years Ernie was around.
You can say it was the shitty aged squad we had (and I agree), but Ernie is also responsible for caving in to them, and nurturing even more the Amigo mentality

It was a terribly built team and was pretty crap.
But Valverde's victories and scorelines almost always flattered the actual play. The Lyon and Man U ties were much tougher for Barca than the scorelines showed. Even the 5-1 El Clasico scoreline flattered Barca as well.

Valverde deserves credit for the wins, but Barca looked on the ropes for many of those games.

Do you think that the players of Valverde were better than what Xavi have now?

He still had prime-ish Messi. None of our current players come close to Messi 2017-2020. And he was kinda out of his prime. Messi is the reason we were in that semifinal. Valverde was a coward who got lucky because of...Messi. The level of play was horrendeous.
