Skimming though some interviews today and the occasional derp-press articles, it becomes apparent that the biggest fans of the german NT and it's players isn't the SCHLAAAAAAAAND !1! event-crowd, but the german NT and it's players. "We did everything right!", "We dominated ze match!", "France created no chances!".
The tone here blends in seamlessly with the tone after the Italy match when Löw thought it's appropriate to lecture Italy on how easily they are to figure out and how they were dominated tactically. Quick reminder: The match ended 1-1 and was decided by one of the most ridicolous shootouts of all time. Much dominance, much genius !
Ever since Louis van Gaal stepped foot into Germany and established certain terms, Löw, his staff and the associated press circle-jerkers rave on and on about "dominance" but seem to forget a key point: Posession doesn't equal dominance. Dominance means asserting your will on someone else, the opponent. When it's an integral part of the opponent's gameplan to let you have the ball, you asserted precisely nothing. Passing the ball sideways for hours with no rhyme or reason isn't dominance. Having to go gung-ho in the last fifteen minutes due to being 2-0 down isn't dominance either.
Other than that, a classic Löw presser: No sense of self-criticism, not even self reflection, no degree of humility and no respect for the opponent.
Having that of my chest, congratulations to the resident french people for a deserved win ! Now please, for the love of god, go make the heroic Commander cry on Sunday !
