The rule comes as an advantage not a cut so nobody can cry about it as in the old format only 2 teams went advanced, imagine if the rule of CL 1997-98 and 98-99 applied, 1st places go directly and 2/6 best placed 2nd. It happened in 1998-99 in the Barca, United, Bayern group with United going as "2nd best 2nd place" (*the other was uefadrid which finished 2nd after Inter) despite the group being by far the toughest one in Champions League history to this date ( Barca was Pot 1, Bayern Pot 2 and United Pot 3 ). See here.
Also, all 6 groups have a weaker team, it's hard to put 24 teams from a single continent and have very though groups and totally weak ones, they're all pretty equal, the uefa coefficient is different than the stupid FIFA Cocaine Ranking.

Look at the World Cups from 1986 to 1994.
Also, 1986 and 1990 were still Win = 2 points untill it was changed to 3 just before the 1994 World Cup, meaning draws x 3 were more precious than 1 win 3-0 and 2 losses, 0-1 each.

You're welcome
That's a very, very stupid rule.... How can you choose 4 out of 6 who've not played each other!?

I mean if some average team is part of a very stupid group, they are already at advantage to advance to the next stage because of the mediocrity in the group, but now they have the advantage further extended because they can advance to the KO stage despite actually being piss poor even in the said mediocre group!

First off to clarify: with direct results I meant the points ofcourse. Direct results in this case didn't translate well. XD
But judging by your post you understood what I meant. Regarding the quality of the system...I have not much to say about that, football has always been that way where rulings have advantages and disadvantages. One could also argue that with this system the really poor teams that couldn't take advantage of a third place qualification get weeded out for the knockout phase, leaving the strong teams and teams with some potential that could surprise and grow during knockout stage. It brings an interesting mixture instead of only the usual favourites. At least it gives Turkey still a chance so I am biased here. ^^b

I don't exactly know about the seeding of these third ranked teams but they will likely face opponents that did much better.

You really want Portugal out of the Euro Cup that badly huh? =P

Direct results between teams different groups? Doesn't make sense.

Maybe you meant to say: number of points, then goal difference, then goal scored and it seems after that fair-play ( probably less nr. of cards ) and finally uefa coefficient.

Ofcourse I meant to say that. Mistranslation on my part.

haha.... Did understand the direct results part

Actually giving second chance, sort of, for third ranked teams does make sense I guess..... In a way

Got me there :p That way the world would see CR7 to be the overrated prick that he is.... Also stupid SAF's Ronaldo could play for Stockport County and score a hat trick bull shit!

Pogba and Griezmann dropped for Martial and Coman. There was mumblings from L'equipe but i didnt think they had it in them. Probably would of kept them in and dropped giroud and matuidi but fair play to Deschamps.

Pogba was crap, Griezmann didn't impress either, but why Giroud? The guy was pretty good as long as Payet was the only one who could serve him.

This is just Albania, so... no big deal for now.
