Croatia doing worse will not be just because Rakitic is no longer there. Not to say Rakitic wasn?t very good when playing in international games. Modric is even older, Perisic now 32. No Mandzukic. Lots of reasons if you do worse
There are lots of factors but even with Raki today, Croatia would have been more stable in midfield and their game would make some sense.
You'll see our midfield without Raki tomorrow.
As if a coach told them: I don't have any ideas, guys. Just go out and improvise. I don' t know how you should play and move, just run around and try to create something.
People here look at Raki through a prism of Barca, where he was below par due to not being a TikaTaka player.
But for an Nt team, imo, he was giving a stability and shape to a midfield since 2008.
When he was on a field, for some reason, a midfield always had some shape and balance.
When he was not on a field, it was weirder.
Tomorrow, you'll see that midfield without Rakitic.
I will make an analogy: do you know that feeling when Messi, Xavi, Busi were injured? And when something is just missing/something is different and worse?
Imo, the same is with Raki and NT team.
Personally, I wouldn't be that surprised if Croatia gets KO'd even in a group stage.
My only hopes are Modric, Perisic and CF Petkovic.
But Perisic and Petkovic are extremely hot and cold.
On a good night, they can KO Spain/Germany with 3:0.
But on 60-70% of other nights, they are invisible and atrocius.
And you never know which face they will show on a specific night.
All in all, we will probably see one epic Croatian win, like 2:0 vs England/Spain, and two-three wtf defeats against Scotland/Czech/anyone on the next matchday.
