Competitiveness matters in entertainment context, I agree it's not that important but people often consider it. Defense hasn't been found out it has more to do with you focusing on the wrong clubs, slandering Serie A defense when midtable Milan gets battered by eredivisie. Inter defense still considered one of the best in Europe. As for better players, trust me you'd change your mind if you watched Serie A more frequently. Bastoni is easily one of the best defenders in the world, arguably the best, yet he rarely gets mentioned when people talk about it. Barella and Reijnders are better than any EPL midfielders this season.
