hopefully the naive fans can understand now that it is all about money, regardless of the path chosen by the 'mighty' EPL clubs. once UEFA sweetened the deal and found a couple of billions stashed under the mattress it was games over. with the TV deal they got plus 4 UCL spots + added billions, they are set either way.

the likes of ozil can tweet now safe in the know that he saved football. all this while turkish fans gather money through sms to pay his fat salary.

It's frankly astonishing Uefa and these EPL clowns managed to sell such a story to fans. Pathetic, meek "we couldn't do it without fans" statements. We've been played and Perez and co. are to blame.

The gap with the EPL will only rise this way.

I agree and I'd only support it if they were legally bound to relinquish the control to a 3rd party organisation.
Format certainly was the biggest realistic problem because even if participants are also governors, it is still possible to have fair competition. Any illusion of that was removed as soon as it became clear it's a league for casuals to watch rich folks play.

That being said - this is not a win for football by any means.
EPL will still grow in power and marginalise Spain & Italy as well as others. Germany shouldn't be treated as the last bastion remaining bastion of fairness either, because it'll never feel like one anyway.

The arrogance Perez showed in the interview is him voicing genuine frustrations of many casual fans at the styles you see across the board, not just because you have Real playing Slavia Prague or whoever. The games are less entertaining than they were even 10-15 years ago where attackers played differently, Joga Bonito was a thing and it was easier to get interested in their game. Death of a typical dribbler is a big issue which is why players like Vinicius are a treasure just because they're brave enough to try unconventional plays.
eSport will eclipse football within this decade. It's more entertaining for a casual kid, something happens all the time making it far easier to stick with + reaches broader demographic as it doesn't matter how fit you are physically.
Super League as a project was a terribly designed way of reintroducing some attractiveness to football by pitting best (on paper) teams against one another. Which is a double edged sword as it doesn't mean level will be better. But it will be easier to get that eSports kid to turn on the telly for RM vs City.

Then again maybe we're not doomed. But the fact we have Haaland vs Mbappe argument and then nothing else is telling. When you had CR vs Messi you at least had so many other quality names popping up at the same time (Gourcuff, Pato etc). Now? Fuck knows.

Well sometimes you have to pay for your own mistakes. We threw 300 million euros!!! for 3 players that haven't helped at all.
The solution in not to get a 350b loan from an American Bank. You will get even more into debt.
You need to find a solution through better management, better transfers better organization of the football department.
If that will cost you some years not being at the first places then it's fine and normal. We have seen that in the past.
Figure out your own mistakes by not creating new.

Well, the reason the standard is poor nowadays is because kids are alot less active and playing these fucking stupid games twiddling their thumbs.
The standard of football has declined Alot in the past five years alone.
Perez is right about some things but this is a clumsy attempt at breaking away.
