I don't think Real had any debt before Covid. We had a lot.

I think it has little to do with debt though, unless they got some new emergency loans because of COVID and filled their coffer. Also many other clubs, such as Atletico and some English and German clubs didn't have this cash problem.

We spent money very recklessly. I think Atletico had some big concerns too.

Most of the teams are suffering. Even Liverpool. They can't afford to make huge signings.

No doubt our expenses were through the roof but what I don't understand is, how come we are affected much more than other clubs. Most big clubs have been affected by the stadium shutdown and hence lost upward 100m plus lost revenue from sponsors and sales lost from physical stores etc., but few has had this kind of cash problem to the point of not having enough to pay the wage bill. Based on their recent net income, most big clubs should have some sort of loss ranging between 50m to 100m. Yes many cut their expenses and wages too (10% for Real Madrid for example) but where did our cash go?

Are they even allowed too? I doubt it.

If I have this right at RM a candidate is only allowed to stand to get elected if he can assure a capital injection.

Not an ideal source - https://www.sportskeeda.com/footbal...ocios-president-elections-structure-functions

How the Club President is elected

The President is elected as the head of an electoral group that also includes the Board of Directors. The Real Madrid Statutes (the documents that govern the functioning of the club) state that the President must be Spanish (at the time of election) and a member of the club for ten or more consecutive years.

To be eligible to run for election, the candidate must give a substantial bank guarantee. A bank guarantee is a promise from a bank or other lending institution that if a particular borrower defaults on a loan, the bank will cover the loss. When Florentino Perez ran (and subsequently won) in 2009, the bank guarantee he had given amounted to about €57 million.

Nothing new really, before Bartomeu departed they had communicated that we would consider finding a "partner" to support the so-called "Barca Corporate" entity which consists of BIHUB, BLM, Barca Studios and Barca Academies because we can't invest much on it right now given the dire financial situations by the club's own doing and COVID. These are the right things we should be exploring for the future and I think as long as we control the majority of the entity and reap most of the benefit it makes sense to find a partner who can support it and benefit from it.

It's better to look for outside investors and pursue the project than abandon it because we lack resources. Would be interesting to see what Laporta and Font have to say, but doubt it since it doesn't sound very popular.

I am not worried about Font, but I’d not be surprised if Laporta does not see much value in these entities that make up of Barca Corporate. He is too old school and a friggin politician and I think he is out of touch of the ground reality today and he thinks he can just make Barca great again by making it a cordial social club. No, these are the things that will carry us in the future from the revenue perspective and they must be given priorities. Bartomeu and Co. have done many things wrong but these entities are right on the money for us and I am glad he created them.

This club needs new blood, not people like Laporta.
