FC Barcelona Tactics

Well Tata allows counterattacks. They and it seems like Neymar will be involved more so than the other Barca wingers in terms of positioning. After watch this game I think the rumors of tactics are actually true.

some more statements from the spanish barca source:

-xavi will still be the main point in the midfield, if availible tata will always use xavi iniesta busquets in big games
-though tata really rates fabregas, he will only use him in midfield, false 9 only messi and neymar
-neymar will be used at lw, but not in typical way, more a free role with its base at left wing
-if in possesion alba will be the left winger, neymar and messi as kind of double front
-mascherano, like assistant of tata (seen with pep before), rated highly by tata

Neymar and Messi actually acted like double fronts. Messi and Neymar will never have to go for it alone anymore

what should Barça do tactically for next season?

-switch to defensive 4-3-3 which is like a 4-2-1-3
-two attack minded full backs
-two tall strong and extremely defensive centre backs
-two holding mids who can defensively tackle and win the ball well and can deliver passes and long balls
-back six outfield players should be relatively fast to stop counterattacks
-one attacking mid who can give precise passes to front three and take a few shots himself
-front three who can dribble and take long shots and are strong to tear through parked buses, also tall enough to put in headers
-front four should be pacey to deliver lethal counter attacks

when attacking
-top three get closer to goal to take shots
-full backs get in front to deliver balls in the box for the three strikers
-the attacking midfielder delivers the ball to front three from midfield
- the two holding mids fall back to help the centre backs to retain strong four man defence
-alternatively to previous point, one of the more defensive minded holding mid goes back to aid the two centre backs to form a three man defence, while the other centre mid pairs up with the attacking mid to gain the ball in midfield if the opponent gets it and then to deliver to strikers

we've solved the keeper problem with the experienced Bravo and the young ter Stegen so we are set for at least 5 years, or till Bravo retires, where Stegen becomes first and we look for his back up.

for central defender, Pique and Hummels would be a good combination as I think they would complement each other well. and we have bartra as the young substitute. they'll need to work on pace though.

for full backs, alves and alba are doing their job well so far but I'm not good at this position so im looking to your advice on this.

for holding midfielders, mascherano is one, but for the other Busquets can't gain possession that well, but is still our starter for now. perhaps look at rafinha and rakitic to enhance the young talent.

for attacking mid we already have the likes of Iniesta and Rakitic now. so one experienced and one young is enough.

so far the front three seems to be decided to be messi suarez and neymar. can't really change that now, although if messi and neymar were only taller and stronger it would have been perfect

so as a conclusion. After finishing with Suarez, get hummels.
yes I know buying players is against the barcelona style, but this will set us up for the next few years, from which then onwards we can develop our young masia graduates.

no hate please. constructive criticism appreciated.

Several mightily important things.

1. Pass the ball faster.
2. Move off the ball better.
3. Leave the wings open for the fullbacks to exploit, and play the wingers more centrally.
4. Create triangles (connected with off the ball movement).
5. Practice set pieces in training sessions until the players start to vomit of exhaustion.
6. Stop viewing Messi as a salvadore della patria and play as a team. Despite the popular opinion, Messi can't win games on his own, never did and never will.
7. Bring back the guts and grit in trainings, no more pranks, laughs and funny stuff. Time to get the winning attitude back. Intensity is the word.

And last but not least:

BUY SOME GOD DAMN DEFENDERS!

FK order. 1. Suarez, 2. Messi, 3. Neymar.

P.S. Xavi should never be around when FKs are trained.

Yes, I'd do so. Not much of a difference between the two here though I prefer Suarez for the most FK positions.

There's a big difference. Messi is the club legend and it doesn't matter if Suarez takes them better than him.

Messi can take them when it is better position for left foot and Suarez can take them when it is better position for right foot. Easy as that.
