Montse Chaure, Tito Vilanova's wife, who was accompanied by their children,
Carlota and
Adrià, summed up the persona of the ex-Barça coach. "Tito loved coming here," she said, also explaining that "he said it was a privilege to train the best team in the world and he loved the players." Above all, she thanked the Club for putting his name on the first team's training pitch: "This is the best way to remember him — everyone together and with a smile."
FC Barcelona president
Josep Maria Bartomeu talked about the significance of Tito Vilanova in the annals of Club history, and explained why the Club wanted to put Tito's name on the pitch: "From now on, all generations that come to train at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper will know who Tito Vilanova was."
