Francesc "Tito" Vilanova

I think Tito always started on the back foot, he didn't quite understand the magnitude of this undertaking..The board have a lot to answer for, obviously they didn't wanna bring in someone that was gonna tamper with our winning formula, instead of bringing in someone with the requisite experience to cater for the greatest team on earth they rather clothed Patroclus in Achilles' armour and presented him to the wolves. What they failed to percieve is that there is a massive difference between asistant manager and manager. There's a massive difference between Josep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova

As everyone knows, I always have a point to make when I talk about Rosell or Tito  so my opinion cant really be taken seriously..so all Im going to say right now is that for me the most important thing(more important than the fact that were going to win the league, that we have the worst defence since Gaspart or that we suffered our biggest humiliation in the European Cup) was that I couldnt really enjoy watching this team play football this season(apart from a few games in December)..and that is the worst thing for me. That and the fact that even Arsenal scored against Bayern..and they dont have Messi. :(

You might think so..but then you remember that they were present when we lost at Milano or against RM in Copa del Rey..and you realize that this it isnt about the players.
I have to agree with what you say here. I just didn't enjoy our teams performances this season either. No matter how good we played (with the exception of Milan 2) I felt we lacked that magic that we had. I'm not emotional like some people when it comes to Tito for some reason. I see he had health problems and that is to be respected but we are talking about the team so when I hear 'he needs another chance' and 'give him another year'... and I think why. I've seen enough of his coaching errors to last a lifetime, I don't need to see anymore to know that he is a bad coach. Sorry not sorry.

The exaggeration of Tito's weaknesses are disgraceful. The team broke the all time La Liga halfway points record(the points they dropped were in a Clasico with Adriano playing his first game as CB). He got cancer and despite the team having effectively won La Liga the team still has maintained a challenge for the La Liga all time points record. Seriously, there's a bunch of spoilt brats in here. As Pep said, the points Barca are getting are 'brutal'. That they have again managed that this season is an amazing accomplishment. You should all be proud of the fact that they are runaway leaders in La Liga against the most expensive team ever.

LOL-firstly fuck Mourinho. Dont want him here.

Second Tito sucks and is in denial. Also remember this. If Rosell feels that he is going to lose the election he might make Tito a scapegoat and sack him. Tito isnt the only problem-Rosell and Zubi are clowns and Tito sadly is their yes man. Tito brings nothing new to the table and is a Pep-lite version. He offers nothing in the way of tactics, strategy and motivation. Great European clubs are judged by the CL. No use if we win La Liga for the next 5 years but get owned in the CL. Bayern made us look like a second rate club. I think they were cautious against us and if they really put the foot on the pedal we would have looked at manitas in both legs. After this Tito was still in denial. The first leg was the important one and I said if we could get a decent result we might make it through. With his boneheaded tactics Tito ensured we had NO chance in the second leg.

1)He played an injured, half fit Messi
2)He started with the useless Pedro and Sanchez on the wings. How about Tello or Villa?
3)Due to injuries had to play a rusty Batra at CB.
4)Played an ailing Busquets. How about Song-he was capable. Could have tried a double pivot to protect the defence. No. He is as stubborn as Pep but has half the substance.
5)Brought on sub only at 4-0 down and that too in the 83rd minute.

His record in big matches this season has been very poor. We lost to average teams like Milan and Celtic. We could only manage 2 draws against PSG. We were lucky in the early part of the season. When that luck ran out and Messi got injured everything went to pieces. There were warning signs and he chose not to sign anyonein the Dec trf window. He is turning into a Wenger like accountant manager and we will become another Arsenal if this continues. I seriously think we will be dumped from the CL group stage and play in the EL next season if Tito continues.

I don't see how some people can honestly suggest keeping Tito. He has shown to be clueless when we needed to make changes.
Good, not even great, managers make changes in the second half early on, to re-ignite the team and confuse the opponents.
Tito always waits WAY too long or doesn't even make the necessary changes.

Furthermore, and this is the biggest reason he should go, he is not a motivator. When you coach a club of this magnitude, it isn't just about formations and tactics.
It's about inspiring the players to go out there and give it their all for 90 minutes. If you can't do that, why should you be the manager?
It is all psychological, you have to get your players to believe that they can and WILL win every game

Tito hasn't warranted Pep status in the first year, but isn't warranting head rolling status. He needs a FULL year in charge. Not a half year What'sApping players from the treatment centre!

Big game results were very much not in his favor however, I judged big games by us playing CL and Europa teams.

Super Copa :
Barcelona 3-2 Real Madrid
Real Madrid 2-1 Barcelona

We lose on away goals, mostly thanks to a brain cramp from Valdes in the first leg to give Real a 2nd away goal.

La Liga:

Barcelona 1-0 Valencia - Adriano golazo gives us the 3 points and the first clean sheet in the Tito era.

Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid - The home classico saw Ronaldo and Messi with doubles. Game could of gone either way.

Barcelona 5–1 Athletic Bilbao - Fantastic manita delivered at the nou camp to the Basque giants.

Barcelona 4–1 Atlético Madrid - We let Falcao open the scoring and scored 4 straight goals to take the lead in the league.

Málaga 1–3 Barcelona - Good solid win with Malaga being in good form too.

Real Sociedad 3–2 Barcelona - Pique gets red carded harshly in the 56th and we blow a 2-0 lead and lose 3-2 in over time. First league defeat of the season.

Valencia 1–1 Barcelona - 3 days after a Copa Classico we play with the exact same lineup and you can tell we were tired. Salvaged a point at the Mestalla.

Real Madrid 2 – 1 Barcelona - 3 days after we lost in the Copa Classico Semi we lose at the Bernebeu late off a set piece.

Athletic Bilbao 2 – 2 Barcelona - Coming off fresh from a spanking in Munich we go to Basque country and salvaged a draw in a game the Basques had the best chances.

Copa Del Rey:

Barcelona 2 – 2 Málaga - Held the lead until late but we give Malaga 2 away goals.
Málaga 2 – 4 - We win the game in the 2nd half scoring 3 goals in the second half. Again concede 2 goals.

Real Madrid 1 – 1 Barcelona - Cesc scores a nice goal but we cannot keep the clean sheet as Verane rises to head in a corner late.
Barcelona 1 – 3 - We get run off the pitch by Real with a Ronaldo double and another header from Verane.

Champions League:

Benfica 0 – 2 Barcelona - We play the 2nd favorites in the group in Lisbon, do a solid 2-0 win in a tough stadium.
Barcelona 2 – 1 Celtic - Alba wins the game in stoppage time as Celtic parked the bus really well.
Celtic 2 – 1 Barcelona - Celtic go up 2 and parked the bus with great success, only a late Messi goals spoiled their cleansheet.
Barcelona 0 – 0 Benfica - Meaingless game for us, but a must win for Benfica. We held the cleansheet with lots of subs and B team players.

Milan 2 – 0 Barcelona - Got worked in Milan and showed no real emotion and attacking flare.
Barcelona 4 – 0 - Put our whole season on the line, played the best game all year in my books pressuring attacking and finishing off Milan in style.

Paris Saint-Germain 2 – 2 Barcelona - Messi scores a beauty and Xavi a penalty but again we concede 2 goals and one in stoppage time. Messi is injured and subbed off at half time.
Barcelona 1 – 1 - We go down 1 and just need one goal to advance and we get it through a nicely worked MVP play where we force Messi to come off the bench despite being injured.

Bayern Munich 4 – 0 Barcelona - they score 2 questionable goals but we don't bother Bayern at all with any of our attacks.
Barcelona 0 – 3 - out muscled and out hussled, Bayern teach us a lesson at the nou camp.

The disturbing trend to Tito's big matches above are the amount of goals we concede in big games. We conced an average of 2 goals a game in these big matches which won't win us anything in 2 legged knockouts.

Out of the 25 "big" matches above we held 4 clean sheets : Benfica x 2 (home and away), Milan (home), Valencia (home). Not a single clean sheet held away except Benfica! Huge huge lack of defense and concentration there! Teams know they will score against us at home.

We also were held scoreless by Bayern home and away, Benifica at home and Milan away. So 4 games out of the 25 big ones we didn't score.

at this point is clear as water that it is completely irresponsible to keep Tito for another season. Can't understand people that want to see him one "full season" as a coach. Sorry but I dont want to jeopardize another season of our best generation (which includes the GOAT)

Has he completely lost it? I sure hope that this is part of some distraction.

Tito makes it hard for us defend him. His post Bayern statements make me think he's not seeing things clearly and that he should have submitted his resignation.
I'd think suffering biggest embarrassment in 20 years would ask for at least some "mea culpa". Instead we heard fitness excuses and blaming the ref.

Also says: "The squad needs to be strengthened, but we don't need a revolution. There's a solid foundation, with many young players."

Someone obviously forgot to send a memo to Bartra, Montoya and Tello.

Agree. The excuses were absurd. Blaming the referee and the fitness of the players. I wonder who is responsible for the latter if not himself?

All in all that was a senseless comment. Saw his press conference live a few minutes ago. Piqué was not only correct but said it in the heat of the moment right after a historic and humiliating defeat.

Tito needs to get his act together.

His comment about this team not needing any major changes is also ridiculous to say the least. We need changes like those in 2008.

But well what to expect. The same guy said that there was no reason to buy a central defender last summer when every sane person could see that this was very much needed. Instead he bought a defensive/central midfielder (Song) and tried to convert him into a central defender.

Also says: "The squad needs to be strengthened, but we don't need a revolution. There's a solid foundation, with many young players."

Exactly. Montoya and Bartra have basically never featured this season unless 66 percent of the defense was absent. Another ridiculous contradiction. Montoya wants to leave the club due to the lack of minutes he gets ffs!

I don't care care about his statements, It's mostly political, What's important is the results and the performance on the pitch, Let's see what he can do next season.
