Franck Ribery

Calma, calma
So we should give this prize every year to either Messi or Ronaldo just because players like Ribery actually play in a well organized, functioning team with players that help each other? Just because these two are generally better players?
I don't get that logic. Just because you have so many good players (who, true, aren't on the same level as Ronaldo or Messi) and they all carry the team's success, doesn't mean you can't pick one outstanding individual. The fact that they have all these players who function so well on the pitch speaks miles about them as a team and as players.
We all know Messi and Ronaldo are better. But you gotta have something to show for it. I'm sorry, but winning La Liga and flopping in the CL, every Clasico and CDR + winning the Supercopa and flopping in the CL, La Liga and that dreadful CDR final can't be called a good season.
You can't give awards to players that are more talented. Winning trophies is what football is about. Scoring goals is great, but come on, neither Messi nor Ronaldo had an outstanding season.
That's just my opinion so please don't crucify me :D

If Messi and Ronaldo were in a well organized, functioning team, they would in general be even better, because their life would be a lot easier. They can play well more constantly throughout the 90 minutes as opposed to coming through in specific moments to individually win the game with a goal (or two).

Messi of Barca 2011 would always win the Ballon D'Or over Messi of Barca 2013, even though the latter may have better stats.

It will obviously be harder for Ribery to win the Ballon D'Or as his Bayern teammates will steal his votes, which ultimately would deservedly reduce his chances of winning. Still long ways to go though.

Not really. It's narrowed down to three choices and it's likely whatever bayern player is there will win. Messi would win if there is himself and two bayern players in the final three.

Actually, it seem hard to give a Ballon D'Or to a player in the same/similar/anything offensive position after Messi has won it 4 times already, true.
At the same time, Messi even if the best, didn't have the best year so far, yet it's hard to choose Ribery thanks to Bayern lining up players like Robben, Muller or even Mandzu in front so Ribery has to split the pot with them, at least Robben.
The reality is that Messi isn't worth the Ballon D'Or, still being hard to give it to Ribery or Robben, I think it's fairly easy to find a compromise. There's no offensive player who can match Messi, then give it to a player with other positions, since Bayern had such a great year and Ribery, Robben still look under Messi and Rronalda Christina, give it to a defensive player, Bayern has many and I think the answer is Javi Martinez, a player that meant in my opinion everything for Bayern, they could've done it without Lahm, Neuer, Dante or Robbery as others could've filled in for one of them, but without Martinez I think we could've actually had a shot at scoring 1-2 goals on Fussball Arena and keep Bayern at bay but he was just king as DM for Bayern, destroyed Barca's offensive ambitions and not only in that game. After all Bayern of 2012 wouldn't have won in 2013 too, they always had something missing in those lost finals and I think Javi was the answer.

Podium should be Javi, Lahm, Ribery, Javi takes it. Messi can regain his form, become just as decisive in 2014 and win another 2-3 to add up to his 4, after all, in 2006 I found it hard to see Ronaldinho lose it despite his year being much weaker in the 2nd half ( after the end of the 2005-06 season as the WC started ) but they gave it to a defender and it didn't look that bad considering R9 was still untouchable as of player yet.

Not sure if I got your point, but that's not how the Ballon D'Or works. There is no two rounds of voting, so the final three mean nothing. Voters pick their favourite three out of a 20-something shortlist and whoever gets the most points from that list wins. When they announce the three finalists, the winner is already decided, it's not like the voters then pick the best out of those 3.
Since there will be several Bayen players on the list, those definitely will steal votes from each other, while Messi will likely be included in everyone's choice even if only for second place.

On spot voting was the reason behind ribery winning the award....Messi will always win Ballon Dor because most NT captains and coaches don't follow European football...............

this^^

Hopefully more the number of Bayern players in the shortlist more the chance for Messi to steal some votes

Just give it to Javi Martinez, Bastian or Lahm and everything will be OK.
Bayern player will be awarded, Messi doesn't lose his nr. 1/MvP status, only doesn't win it for one year and loses it to a defensive player and he will be more motivated for 2014 to up his game again.

The guy was majestic this year, not only he made some extraordinary games, but he also looked to be the missing link for Bayern 2012, final losers + Bundesliga 2nd and Cup Runners up.
