Frank Rijkaard

Rijkaard is so humble and so unassuming. It is hard to believe today that he lead the side to the double...

It wasn't really about Frank imo, although credit to him for reinventing Barca style again. It was Ronaldinho who spurred the big turnaround. Once Ronaldinho lost his motivation, Barca lost titles.

I don't think it was just Ronaldinho that lost it though. The bigger culprit was Deco. He was the real engine that made things work offensively and his defensive work rate, competitiveness, street smarts was a huge part to us being so competitive. Once Deco's form dropped due to his age / personal issues (divorce etc.) wins became draws, draws became losses and Ronaldinho's clubbing became "an issue". No doubt Ronaldinho was at fault, but it's Deco's rise and fall that really hurt the side as well.

It's true, but I also think that a a bit of motivation for some players, was also the cause ... well, you see, after two excelent seasons, it's natural some relaxation...

Yeah, but you know that making the tactics, picking the team and making subs is not everything which the manager is doing. The psychological qualities are always going together with the tactical knowledge, so I truly believe that you can't be a great manager, if you can't inspire, motivate and keep mentally healthy your players. So, basically I guess I don't believe that Rijkaard will ever come alongside the great ones, although he won big things with Barca.

He's humble, but he's looking too much humble for my taste. Modern football is a jungle and you can't survive in the jungle, if you're not a predator. And Frank is more close to an antelope than to a lion, IMO.

Rijkaard doesn't like problematic players. So, he sent Barca to Roni and from Galatasaray Keita. And he want instead system player. System come before always for him. Someone becomes living to Turkey, he is too resident, what do know and want time for achieve. I think Rijkaard much thing learn from Cruijff and Barcelona. His like said: Cruijff is father of the Holland.

I don't see why there should be a cule who isn't a FR fan. At the end of the day, he's in Top 3 of our most successful managers ever, even with just 2 ligas & 1 CL. But these are the facts.

Because, like everything else in life, you always find people who just like to moan

Yep. That funeral's tomorrow (and Ancelotti is flying back to London to coach Chelsea on Sunday). :(
