My concern is that we are having a bunch of players that play well vs average teams, but disappear vs the better teams.
Or even worse, the same may apply to our current gamepaln, if there exist one.

Of course, it all depends on if we still aim to be the very best team in the world, or content to be a team under rebuilding.

Most of them are not even playing that well v the average teams this season.

FDJ, Gundogan and maybe Cancelo about only three that are most weeks and maybe MATS when fit.

Xavi is in danger of running them both Gundo/FDJ into the ground. The amount they have played recently is ridiculous.

When we played Pedri every game a few seasons back and he got injured.

Tune was completely different.

Now de jong is being ran into the ground.

Rotations are definitely important, always

Especially for young players.

Nah the argument was about Pedri and what caused his injuries. Pedri came off early and was rested by Barca that season a number of times.

This argument is 7 away games in 21 days is too much for any player and will run him and Gundo into ground if continues.

FDJ should not be starting two games away to minnows in cup for example and playing 90 mins.

That goes for any player but he is the one that has played every minute of those games and extra time in midweek.

7 games in 21 days with all that travelling is too much for any of them.

The real 'tune that was different' was the same folk who mentioned Pedris minutes at Barca at that young age chose to completely ignore a younger Gavi playing similar level minutes at Barca... Difference was Xavi being coach.

Bit like how other coaches get blamed for the injuries but for Xavi its all bad luck for similar type of injuries.

He has some world-class attributes, like press resistance or being able to run the whole game...But every other part of his games is average.

Can't create chance, can't assist, can't score, can't shoot...He is blind as a chicken and sees only 10 meters in front of him.

He was Barcas best player against Real Madrid last season...

And in the game before that was best mid on park when won 4-0 there.

He has been best player on park v them for Ajax before that.

Like all the players they need a structure and decent team around them to perform at their best.. that is true of FDJ.. Pedri, Gavi, Gundo, Araujo.. any of them.

Even Messi needs that.

All of them will have poorer games at times also v biggest teams at times..it happens.

The players to worry about are the ones that are average v poorer/average teams and rarely ever play well v the better ones.
1 of the games against Real he was good indeed and the other one not bad. Although the most thing he did was press resisting and not really creating.

At Ajax against Real he wasn’t the best player of the field. You exaggerate a lot and think nobody can control it but I saw it all. Tadic was the man of the night and also VD Beek was better. He was equal to Schone in the match who scored a fantastic goal. First half of Frenkie was good with 2 press resisting skills against Modric and Vinicius but didn’t create anything. But overall he did his thing then.

Most of the times at Barca he dont deliver against big teams. All the CL games against the greats he went missing. Bayern plenty of times Kimmich was way better. In those matches he don’t step up. When they need his guidance the most he don’t make mistakes but isn’t the leader to set the way by creating or catching the game. I don’t understand how you can keep this up after all those years and the proof there.

Nah he was the best mid easily in those three wins in second half of last season and the best player in two of them.

Ajax game he was best mid on park and had folk purring.

Been Barca best player v Real under Xavi as said... was very good this season and last v Atletico at home etc.

But you keep exagerating about 'big teams'.

Yesterday he looks knackered and struggling to run freely but was ok within that but levels have along with rest dropped lately.

By no means was he the easily best mid in 3-1 win against real Madrid, that's just a big no.

You'll be hard press to find any non de jong fan boys to say that, lol.

Gavi & pedri were better than him and busquets about the same.

Nor was he the best player in the 2-1 at home, he was very good there, if he was the "best mid" it wasn't by a landslide

Roberto
Gavi
Busquet
Were all good that game as well.

Euro sport even gave him a 5 lol

I don't agree with that though, he was way better than that.

So that leaves us with the lucky 0-1 we got in Madrid.

We then lost the return leg and he kept telling us, that the main reason we lost was because de Jong was out.

Ignores the 1-2 lost were we unplayed them without him.

And finally when we get our asses kicked with him in the XI In the super copa, which happens often over the last 4-5 years with him in the team.

It's ohh well I never implied that we only lost because we were without de jong in the Copa del rey and a bunch of typical excuses.

Typical Jamdav spin.

Another we've won 66% of the games without him.

The facts are we've lost 1 game without him.

Truth is, he plays well when the team plays well, like most footballers.

But unlike great footballers, Best CM in the world level footballers, when the teams is playing poorly and is looking for their 27 year old, 75m euro star signing for leadership.

he comes up small 90% of the times.

He was the best midfielder in that 2-1 game..

Already said it...

Most tackles/interceptions.
Most ball progression of any mid.
Most chances created.
Highest passing accuracy of an mid and most passes.

Rolls Royce game.

Literally within weeks of that game Barca were fairly poor away to Real and he was best player for Barca that game also.
