- An injury that's worse than initially thought and could be chronic
- Doesn't want to discuss a contract renewal until he has a year left and can dictate terms
- Overpaid and consistently underwhelming

If they don't manage to sell him this summer he's definitely going to become a massive problem for us

Will play for two more years and then leave for free, don't see a problem here. Will become a problem when he'll leave and people will realize we are missing him.

Unless they would put him in the stands like they did with Dembele. Don't see Flick going against Laporta like Xavi did tbf.

0% chance if he leaves we will miss him.

Also after spending what we spent, the salary we gave him that him leaving on a free is a very big deal.

He did fuck all the time he was here, more than is usual 5-10 good games per season, least he could do is have us make some of our money back.

We'll miss him as much we missed all the big money barto signings, which is to say none at all.

Him leaving for free won't be the worst scenario actually, him renewing with a big fee then actually becoming more injury prone is bigger issue.
And honestly I can see this happening, the moment he feels injury could be a problem in future negotiations he will surely sit down and talk, as a 29 years old injury prone non superstar won't get big offers in free agency, so it will be better for him to secure the bag asap like Fati and Umtiti did.

If Allemany was here, he would have been in the stands already from 1.5 year before the expiration his contract.
I miss him.
The man had balls and knew how to cut toxic player power

He became a massive problem the moment that criminal handed him a renewal with inflated wages until 2026.
The only way to take away his huge bargaining power is to sit him indefinitely in the stands.
When the power balance is that, there is simply no other way

Yes, and here is Laporta's responsibility.
And as we have seen from LEwa, Gundo, even Ansu and Raphina and Kounde,
he is still giving HUGE wages,
not as ABOVE the market as Barto, but still SUBSTANTIALLY ABOVE
which is criminal if you want to not only make the club financially healthy again, but also fight toxic player power

Koeman is angry

from other source on english:

'Ronald Koeman spoke about this at the press conference afterwards and did not hesitate to hit out at Barcelona: "He has a history with this injury, so we have to think about his health. His club decided to take risks and this is the price we have to pay now for that.

"We found out today in the middle of the afternoon. We were very optimistic, we were really hoping to have De Jong in the last group game. But the best thing is to do without him," he added. Koeman also complained about the fixture overload and the schedule: "The clubs’ schedule is getting worse now. Lewandowski got injured in the friendly in Poland... and Koopmeiner doesn't look good either. We'll see tomorrow morning, but I don't have high expectations".'

He's got a lot of talent but he just cannot stay fit and he hasn't been able to make a good impact in most of his time at Barca. It's a real shame.
