Had a rather average performance.

Still probably the best midfielder in the squad and the lad has enormous potential, but the hype he had going based off a few pre-season performances was ridiculous.

This performance should bring some of the more impressionable fantasist Cruyffistas back to earth.

I could not help but wince after the usual suspects proclaimed he would undoubtedly become one of the best midfielders of all-time after merely a few summer games in the U.S. and Japan. Some of the more daft posters had already suggested he was going to single-handedly revolutionize the position and was already the best midfielder in the world.

:lol::lol::lol:

Blimey, would it kill you lot not to speak in hyperbole every time a talent has a good performance? You're just setting yourselves up to be humiliated after the player inevitably fails to live up to your out of this world expectations.

I can only imagine the reactions on here if KDB was playing for us. Would probably be declared better than Xavi and Iniesta combined 10 games into his career here.

Somewhat agree with your points
FDJ is clearly talent and we should have high hope for him but some claims about him are absolutely ridiculous
He still has a long way to prove him self for the team

He wouldn't, because he would have to play retardo football and therefore suck donkey ass like everybody else.

He is a great talent probably already top 25 player in the world right now (voted nr8 by coaches) but he's not Messi, thats another level all together

He is not gonna save Barca from bad tactics.

Err...maybe stop to think that his performances versus Juventus, RM, Tottenham, France and England last season are what is behind the hype rather than summer jamborees?

Valverde apologists already turning on this guy and spinning the narrative that he's not that good so they can justify his eventual benching.

The agendas people push just to defend Valverde instead of accepting the reality that he is an objectively terrible coach... :facepalm:

He was one of Ajax's best players but he didn't make it happen all by himself. Those performances are contributed by exceptional effort from all Ajax players. So don't hope for him alone to change the whole dynamic of our team without proper set up from the coach

We have here a lot of delusional fanboys, and they prepared a excuse everytime their fave hyped players played nothing special or bad. There is always a Valverde to blame but not the players

Like this one if a player can't do a proper short passes this fanboy will blame Valverde

If Valverde or his beloved seniors can't do... well basically anything right, his fanboys will blame one of the newer players, like FDJ or Arthur. Who are probably on the bench while Busquets, Rakitic etc stink up the place game after game and Valverde refuses to bench them.
