Not sure what you mean. He was monster bringing the ball up,stealing the ball and defending. Perfect match overall. This is how he should play. He would be even more useful if our Frontline could run and find good passing lanes for a quick counter attack but they are too lazy for that or old.

We desperately need striker with movement and one more midfielder with legs to run and pass. Pjanic is a good start but I would want to see another athletic midfielder like DeJong with Pjanic.

You're moving him up the pitch. The more any player plays further up, the more he wants to be involved, the less he'll want to go back down permanently, especially when they're relatively young. See Marcos Llorente. Or Kante to a lesser extent.

Frenkie won't be a CDM if you continue to use him this way to take advantage of his runs. He'll sure do some defending, but he won't be a holding player anymore. Means you need +2 new names.

Nah, Kante is exactly the player you don't want if you're moving FDJ up. He is a less reckless Vidal at this point - RCM with B2B tendencies.

You're describing a traditional anchor man rather than a deep lying playmaker with defensive duties.

Jorginho, Tonalli, Partey, can all do the job easily enough

He displayed real attacking flair yesterday, I didn't see anything like that from him in adult football before. Reminiscent of his U-19 Ajax videos where he used to be a number 10. Maybe he can evolve into a great attacking CM (who can also defend) after all.
