I think what Romero is saying is not an actual pay raise. He'll just get back to what he was earning in his first season before he took a significant pay cut in October 2020 when he also accepted to defere part of his wages so over the last 1,5 years he was playing on probably half of his initial wages. At least that's how I understand it. But of course saying he'll double his wages now sounds worse.
