Soler is closer to Atletico now. There are rumors circulating that Barca will go for a more high-profile midfielder if De Jong is sold, and not a budget option like Soler, since they will have more money to spend.

Unfortunately, as Joan said, De Jong is not consistent enough and is a rather capricious player style-wise. He has spells of some great games, but the good form fizzles out and so does his output. He seems to be to be a player requiring a whole midfield, or even the team, to be built around him and give him the freedom he wants. We have better midfielders than De Jong, possibly two even in the near future, so at Barcelona that is not possible.
