Pique doesn't deserve half the shit he gets. He's a true club legend. Even in our humiliations recently he was never the weak link (apart from PSG home last season). Heck, Varane had more disastrous big games in the last few years. Problem is that people somehow think he needs to be this great leader, which could be a decent point, but then again that won't magically make Lenglet, Semedo and co. good defenders.

Pique was shit v PSG last season but to be fair had just come back from injury and has been poor in all the defeats and shown no leadership/organisation whatsoever.

It is hardly some positive for him being poor individually in those defeats and as a leader that there were others that were worse.

Weak challenge in the first goal at Anfield, gave away pen to Roma, looked as like a deer in headlights v Bayern.

The league last season was lost by trying to shoe horn him back into side. The results for Barca were at best last season with him injured.

The flack that goes Piques way is justified.

Well, I agree he doesn't deserve half of the shit he gets as long as we agree that he deserves the other half.
As Jamdav explained, he was faulty many times too.
Father time isn't kind on defenders of his age playing in attacking teams like ours tbh
That being said, I am happy with his form this season so far.

Pique does deserve the shit he gets. IMO, he was truly world-class for just 1 season since 2011 in 10 years. 2014-15. And even then he needed to be benched a bit first to get his shit together.

He was kind of kept in check by natural leaders like Puyol and Mascherano. On his own, he wasn't that great.
