Gerardo "Tata" Martino

Poor Tata… So much pressure on him. You can feel it by watching this video.
He's a great coach. He made mistakes like any other coach would've done but what happened this season really really didn't help him.
I would be happy if he stays, and if he doesn't, it would be understandable.

tbf Tata is always so nervous. He's been like that all season, even in the first couple of games

Balague said on Revista- In Tata's first training session the players told him "Thats not how we do things" and from then on he had no authority over the team.....

Even if it happened he stayed on and succumbed to players? That doesn't pain a good picture on Tata either.
He didn't have players to style his system but he accepted the job and knew (or should have known) what he's getting into.

"The problem now is Barça are trying to be something they’re not. By attempting to improve weaknesses the result has been a weakening of strengths. This is misguided. More and more business gurus and success stories advise people to exploit their strengths rather than work on weaknesses because making a weakness less of a weakness is not as beneficial as being the best you can possibly be at a given skill. One’s natural weakness irrespective of attempt to improve it will never be as powerful as one’s innate strength. Strengths are what win, and Barça’s chief strength is weaker because like a muscle it hasn’t been exercised."

I agree 100% with the author.

Very naive article

Yeah playing to ones strengths doesnt hurt but addressing your weaknesses doesnt either. Especially our weaknesses which have been the same for years and are now being easily exploited by even bottom table teams. You cant tell me to ignore some weaknesses like sideways passing in front of a packed box and the comical way in which we concede some goals should be brushed under the carpet.

Also the teams strengths change over time. Football is not static. You have to evolve with time. Some ppl talk as if Barca has been playing Tiki Taka non stop since its inception. It was possible with a special set of players who have declined. Either evolve or be swept away by the competition. And nobody is talking about abandoning Tiki Taka btw. Just more variation and unpredictabilty

Well in our apex our defense was actually pretty good probably one of the best in europe i remember before 2011-2012 we never lost a match once both Pique and Puyol started so i suppose if we play to our strengths a good defense is one of those. Another strength that I dare say no one else in world football has is iniesta and his through balls, xavi is actually pretty good at them too once he actually does them. I think thats what he means get rid of the side ways passing and play to the strengths of iniesta since he's been the driving force in midfield in the tough games this season.

Paints the sort of picture some of us have concluded just after the winter break and one in which was echoed by the Sport rumour that there was a Captain's meeting with Leo re: Tata in the Fall...El Pais

lol nonsense in this thread.

that analogy is a truism and means nothing until put in context.

and when put in context, does not apply here.

That could be the reason for so many injuries and the lack of fitness of some players.
