Goetze is the flop of the match. The first half he was non-existent, had maybe only a handful of touches; the second half he was better, more visible, had two shots on goal and a few other attempts. His careless mispass led to the Scottish goal, eventually.

I'd honestly like to know what's up with this guy. I mean, he's not even playing particulary bad but he's playing so far below his possibilities that one just has to wonder. One minute, you see him linking up with his teammates nicely, playing one-twos, dribblings etc. and next thing you know he disappears for twenty minutes. On top of that, he comes off as saturated and bored. I seriously believe that his abundance of talent is counterproductive to his development as a player.

More likely a case being to full of himself (Beats headphones [moron, those aren't even good], fancy clothes and accessoires etc., constant selfies on all web 2.0 plattforms) while the media started portraying him as the bad guy at some point, alienating him somewhat. At times, he almost sounds depressed when he talks to the media now. Doesn't take it too well having obstacles in front of him (has to fight for his spot at Bayern, media's gotten more critical), I guess.

I want to see him playing as a CAM for consecutive matches and see what happens. He did perform better yesterday when he was behind someone.
And contrary to what many people say about him, I think he was not lacking effort at all yesterday. He was trying pretty hard, to me.

Ryu, do you really think his off-the-field life style and how he spends his spare time has a detrimental effect on his on-the-field performance? It is not like he is not concentrating when he is training or playing.
I doubt it. I mean, come on, most football players, especially the stars have a pretty flashy life style off the pitch. We can't ask them to be monks.

That also my opinion..and I also feel that in the last 2 years he didn't improved at all. He had some good games here in there, but it's not what you would expect from someone with his salary and status.
Well it means different things. But do Gotze it would be always trying to improve and not being complacent, being resilient (he gives up when things are tough), dealing with critics and have the attitude if always proving them wrong, trying for the full 90 minutes and not playing in bursts.
Look at Suarez and Cristiano those are mentally strong players IMO. Guys like Gotze and Cesc are mentally weak.

Well Munir and Bellarabi were actually born in their respective countries. I can see why they'd want to play for the nation they were born and raised in.
