Hakan Çalhanoğlu

He seems to score quite a lot of goals for a central midfielder. Just turned 21 recently as well.

To those that say that he is average. What do you base that on? Considering his age there should IMO be a lot of room for improvement. I have not watched him at all almost.

How does he differentiate from let us say Gündogan? Another Turk.

Apart from the goal, he didn't really stand out for me against Atlético. His teammate Karim, however, caught my eye. Pace, awareness, dribbling, and work-rate. Hakan's set-piece skills and directness will be much appreciated in Simeone's team.

Gündogan is a ball distributor with box-to-box qualities who is able to keep the ball in tight spaces, while Calhanoglu is a direct central / attacking midfielder who is more about end product rather than distributing. One is German, the other is from Turkey.

I know Gündogan very well. I have only watched Hakan 2-3 times so not enough material to compare with. Hence why I asked the question.

Anyway thanks for the reply.

Why do you say that he is not good enough? Do you not see him improving? He is significantly younger than Gündogan for instance. Could he change positions? For instance develop more into a creative central midfielder? Or is that unlikely to happen.

I don't really believe that the club is interested in him.

I simply think he is more suited to a direct style like Leverkusen or Atletico that can make full use of his set piece qualities. He isn't really the most intelligent player to begin with.

Bellarabi has been excellent this season, really had his break-through thanks to not getting injured during the first couple of games (which happened to him rather often in the past)

Corrected that for you.

for set pieces in general.
How many of them do you get per game? 8 freekicks, 6 corners, yeah that makes a hell of a difference when you got a guy that doesnt let coincedence decide where his crosses and shots land.
The Madrid teams have reached the CL final with tons of goals after set pieces. In my opinion that should be at least worthy of further consideration. I mean you can make use of that whenever you think it would be a cool idea and the price is basically "Montoya" according to the media.

But he's still taking up one of 10 outfield positions on the pitch in the hope we score from a set piece. Also we do fine with our corners, Rakitic and Messi are well able to whip a ball into the box. No manager in his right mind would use a position at Barca just for a set piece specialist.

They r both from Germany..born and raised there. One decided to play for Germany and one for the country of his ancestors.

Anyway Leverkusen just bought him last summer, so there is no chance to convince Leverkusen to sell. Clubs ll receive the same answer, like all the interested clubs got when asking for Bender or Kramer..not for sell.
