Place of Birth: Bamako, Mali

Age: 30

Height: 1.75 (5'9)

Another RB that we are in negotiations with that could come for very cheap with a low salary. Apparently a solid RB by all aspects and likely a stop-gap for the time being.

Never saw him, or heard of him, but for some reason I already like him.

He had 10 league assists last season for Rennais, and is also their captain.

Apparently they will sell for 3m as his contract runs out next year and wont stand in his way if an opportunity like this is available

Worth a punt if you ask me.

Far better than spending 40-odd million on the likes of Foyth who is a glorified system player at Villarreal and Bellerin who is bang average. Use him as a stop-gap on low wages and see how the market is next summer.

Agreed. If he's well scouted then 3-5m is nothing.

I've seen people say he's primarily a more defensive RB but also pretty solid in possession. And last season chipped in with 3 goals and 10 assists. If he can replicate that form and shows he's solid at both ends he'll be far away our best RB.

Funny enough his brother is Adama Traore the Midfielder. Back when he was at Monaco, and when he was much younger Robert kept tabs on him as a possible future CM target as he had some potential. But it seems like the guy never did take that next step in his development years later and is now without a club.

Interesting he's more defensive at RB as is Foyth. Coincidence or you think Xavi is going for the Alves-Abidal dynamic at fullback.

Probably. Although at least based on stats from last season he also looks more than capable offensively as well.

It's hard to find well rounded full backs who are great both offensively and defensively so if we sign Traore I'd like to get a more offensive RB over next year or two and then also pair Balde (or someone like Galan if signed) with a more defensively sound LB. Then can rotate between them and match different combinations based on opponents until we find someone who can make a position his own but at both FB positions don't think this is very likely short/mid-term.

Makes sense. Barcas defense been dog poo for a long time. We are leaking easy goals vs top competition too often.

You don't win at top level without playing good defense.
