Messi's greatest rival was not CR7, but with Papa Perez :valverde:

Commensurate to the quality of the respective Barca teams... we have Raphinha, Lewa and Yamal, and that one had Messi, Suarez and Neymar.

Intelligence and creativity are what makes football and life interesting, true winning. I'll take golden Barca any day over Flick's Barca same reason Miami and Galaxy are the most interesting teams to watch itw today.

Birdy always gets bullied here for his takes, but the reality is he took a mega W here, and he has a unique perspective worth listening to on certain things. I respect his view on tactics specifically a lot and I think his opinion on tactical matters is one of the best here.

Everyone has their own view on football, as long as they are articulate enough and informed, its best to take some things from everyone, everyone has their specialities in terms of analysing football.

The vast majority of posters here are pretty good with the exception of only a few insane ones like IU.
On the other hand, he's currently taking a massive L on Arsenal and got blown to bits on Ten Hag and likely Zirkzee. And it is still early in the season, could still go wrong for Flick (though clearly I hope it does not). And Arsenal could improve etc.

Not having a dig at Birdy, but it just goes to show that we all get things right and wrong, and those wins and losses are transient depending on the month and part of the season. We all have our own biases and thoughts that can make us look good or bad.

I agree with your general point, though. I don't think there's any guys on here I would consider a lost cause when talking football with, although it's clear to me that I have played a lot more football than many here. Most people have a baseline intelligence at least.

I like everything Flick has done with this Barcelona in such a short amount of time, except the Goalie situation. That bothers me, because it feels like, from the outside, the only reason Pena is nr1 is because of loyalty which is weird to me.

I don't know how many people on here specifically called for flick to he barca's manager before he was appointed or even before Xavi was appointed.

But I would guess that number is somewhere close to 0.

If anyone made that call, you have to give them props.

Indeed. It's looking prophetic if anyone said that.

But, again, I would suggest caution. It's still only three months into his tenure. Barca are looking superb but it could go wrong - I hope it doesn't but we have all seen enough football to know teams look great early and then it all falls apart. There's been other examples.

I don't think that will happen here though, as Barca have so many good players and young talent, and Flick is clearly a quality coach. I do think they won't keep up the 'four goals per game' standard, but of course that is normal and they won't have to to win trophies.

I am just saying though - three months is a little early to start calling wins. I didn't even vote fraud or bum, I was neutral. But he has won nothing yet so stay calm. This sort of response would make much more sense if he was two seasons and two Liga trophies and 1 CL trophy deep.

It's far too premature to start mocking anyone or anointing anyone.

Edit: by the way, Flick knows this himself, if he's the man and coach I hope he is. He'd agree with what I am saying and tell you all not to get carried away. He knows the really hard work is still to come. If he is thinking Barca have made it then that's a red flag. But he's a professional so I expect he's staying calm and composed.

Yea you're right, it's early days, things could all fall apart in the end, but to be honest I would be shocked if we don't at least win the league.

And yea no one should be "mocking" anyone over flick, because I doubt a sole on here specifically wanted flick as our manager.

To say you don't want Xavi and saying hire flick are two totally different things.

Agree. FWIW I hope and think Barca will win the league. I am especially confident because Real and Atletico look poor now, and Real are rarely a league team at the best of times.

CL more up in the air as a lot of luck involved there.
Me and @Birdy did it way way back.

And @Rassvet agreed with us. That's pretty much it.

Fair enough - well played. Hopefully Flick continues to make that prediction look good, and I am sure he will. All three of you are good posters when you wanna be.

Thanks. I wouldn't call myself a good poster though. Rassvet and Birdy are pretty much the gold standard as posters of this forum and you'd be doing a great disservice to them by putting me in the same bracket as them, which is obviously not your intention here.

Appreciate the compliment though.

We all know you are an arrogant bastard - false modesty doesn't suit you
